California is so close to passing a road safety game-changer! SB 961 will alert drivers speeding 10+ mph over the limit — saving lives and making streets safer for all.
Let’s make this a reality. Urge Governor Newsom to prioritize lives.
✍️ Sign the petition now – at San Diego, CA
Urge @CAGovernor @GavinNewsom to #SignSB961 to curb dangerous, illegal speeding. Take action here: bit.ly/SignSB961

We're excited to see that @NHTSA is taking action to reverse the pedestrian safety crisis.
The organization announced today it will for the first time establish standards aimed at reducing head injuries to child and adult pedestrians.

Lots of art 🎨 and advocacy 🗣️ at today’s DC Family Bike Fest. I was out supporting kids in talking about (and drawing!) what they care about and why. It’s always a pleasure to be with @SafeStreetsDC, fellow ANCs, and so many more fighting for safe streets and traffic calming.
ALT A bustling crowd and lots of activity at this year’s DC Family Bike Fest.

On Labor Day weekend, I biked around wards 1-3 putting up 20 signs in partnership with @SafeStreetsDC and @WABADC to memorialize those killed in DC traffic crashes in the past several years. There are several HUNDRED of these signs going up across dc over the course of this month
".@NHTSAgov estimates a decrease in fatalities in 31 states and Puerto Rico. The fatality rate in one state remained unchanged, while 18 states and the District of Columbia are projected to have experienced increases."

More people have died in crashes this year in D.C. than in all of 2015, when Bowser set a goal of zero deaths by 2024. The city told us a good sign was that major injuries are going down, but it turns out they just changed what counts as a major injury washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/…

My essay in @TheSunMagazine, about attending a grief retreat in the desert, is a love letter to the parents we met there and all our beautiful kids. It's also a love letter to my friends and a dog named Shitter.

TY to @charlesallen for your incredible legislation in Washington, D.C., empowering the DMV to install "speed governors" (ISA technology) in the cars of the most reckless drivers.
Kudos to @SafeStreetsDC for your advocacy!

We want to thank @MoCoFSS member Mindy Badin for her brave testimony this week on Capitol Hill.
Her son Brett, shown here, was killed trying to walk to a dinner with some of his friends from his job program on a dangerous street (Rockville Pike) 😭

Tomorrow Friday, July 12 is the last day for the community to provide feedback on DDOT's proposals to make Grant Circle safer. DDOT said their Alternative 1 proposal is the safest option. Please email them if you haven't and tell them you support Alternative 1. (Emails next)
