United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed former Haitian Prime Minister Dr. Garry Conille as the new UN Resident Coordinator for Kenya, replacing Dr. Stephen Jackson, who departs for a similar role in China.
Conille brings over 20 years of experience in international development, humanitarian affairs, and public administration. He previously served as UN Resident Coordinator in Burundi and Jamaica, making him a seasoned diplomatic hand.
As Kenya's highest-ranking UN Development System representative, Conille will lead efforts advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and coordinate engagements with government, civil society, and development partners. He is no stranger to Kenya, having visited in October 2024 during his tenure as Haiti's Prime Minister.
