At the 6th Global Link for Youth Actions, Gao Yongkai, initiator of LightArk AI: Cloud-Edge Bookstore, shared his vision of what real China–Africa cooperation could look like
"we need more young people who actually build things together. How Can In-Depth Content Adapt to the Times? A Young Singaporean Director Searches for Answers to Media Innovation
In today’s rapidly changing media environment, how can in-depth content find its audience?
During the 2026 Acceleration Week for China-ASEAN Youth Development Programs, young Singaporean documentary filmmaker Ong Kah Jing brought A Feeling of Music Playing, his documentary on traditional music, to Hainan. Over the past decade, he has explored different ways to connect his work with audiences — from renting a cinema himself to screen his documentary, to now experimenting with ways to bring documentaries beyond the screen.
For OKJ, media innovation is not simply about chasing new technologies or new formats. More importantly, it is about finding one’s own path and helping stories worth telling reach the audiences who truly understand and appreciate them.

At the 6th Global Link for Youth Actions, Dr. Gift Nnamoko, visionary behind The New Africa Magazine, put forward a clear proposition for China–Africa cooperation:
"Africa is not short of opportunities or manpower — what we need is structured management. I look forward to working with Chinese partners to bring factories and technical know-how to the continent, so that young Africans can move from raw material exporters to producers who process, package, and prosper right here at home."

At the 6th Global Link for Youth Actions, Jude Dahilo, Founder of Kings Patriots Development Foundation, shared his point for China–Africa cooperation:
"True partnership is give and take. We must raise a generation of Africans empowered to build beyond what they can currently see — young people who go to school not simply to be employed, but to create jobs and drive change at home."

At the 6th session of the Global Link for Youth Actions, Dr. Samuel Ndubuisi-Brown from Nigeria, Group CEO of Browncon Group, introduced his initiative dedicated to building sustainable businesses across Africa. What makes the program unique is its broad approach: instead of focusing on a single sector or market, it spans 12 subsidiaries and has established Africa's first green climate finance bank, mobilizing private capital to fund green jobs and create green opportunities for young Nigerians. With China operations set up this year and a 26 trillion dollar economy in view, the goal is to deliver cleaner energy solutions, resilient infrastructure, and green jobs for a continent of 1.5 billion people — solving the problems of even a fraction of them keeps the company going every day.

At the 6th session of the Global Link for Youth Actions, Chisom Joan Onwuemeka from Nigeria, Founder and CEO of Joconut Enterprise, introduced her social innovation initiative dedicated to decent work and economic growth among young people. What makes the program unique is its broad approach: instead of focusing on a single product or market, it produces coconut-based products such as coconut chips and coconut oil under the Onado Twist brand, with part of the profits going back into youth and empowerment initiatives. After her mentorship experience in China, one question stuck with her: how can Joconut be distributed, and how can China and Africa collaborate? Noting that China has coconut oil but not coconut chips as an innovation, she is now exploring partnerships to move beyond Nigeria, beyond Abuja, beyond Africa.

At the 2026 Acceleration Week for China-ASEAN Youth Development Programs, Syafiq from Brunei Darussalam introduced Brunei Youth Heritage Connect, a social innovation initiative dedicated to promoting traditional culture and music. What makes the program unique is its broad approach: instead of focusing on a single activity or audience, it centers on three pillars — discover, preserve, and share — engaging young people through heritage walks and workshops, documenting what they learn from practitioners via storytelling, videography, and photography, and sharing it through dance performances and tourism activities. The goal is to go beyond Brunei to ASEAN countries and China, connecting everyone by not just watching but learning from each other's culture and heritage.

At the 2026 Acceleration Week for China-ASEAN Youth Development Programs, Vannapha Southivong from Laos introduced Lailalab, a social innovation initiative dedicated to building the technology ecosystem in Lao PDR. What makes the program unique is its broad approach: instead of focusing on a single service or business, it spans e-commerce platforms for local shops, payment gateways integrating MSMEs into the bank payment system, and ready-to-use subscription models that let small enterprises access advanced technology at low cost — the same tools big companies use. When thousands of businesses subscribe, the budget can be reinvested into the ecosystem and the people. The goal is to transfer local businesses into the digital world and keep talents growing at home, building a technology community with Lao people's hands and for Lao businesses.

At the 2026 Acceleration Week for China-ASEAN Youth Development Programs, Joanna from Timor-Leste introduced WithOneSeed, a social innovation initiative dedicated to reforestation and community empowerment. What makes the program unique is its broad approach: instead of focusing on a single plot or benefit, it pays farmers 50 cents per tree per year to nurture the land, spreading across 5 municipalities and creating 46 local jobs. This isn't just about planting trees — it is about restoring the dignity of local people, guided by the belief: simple action, many people, big impact.

At the 2026 Acceleration Week for China-ASEAN Youth Development, Natthawadee from Thailand, a project engineer working with robots, introduced her initiative dedicated to empowering people through AI. What makes the program unique is its broad approach: instead of focusing on a single application, it spans content creation, knowledge sharing, and industrial robotics, ensuring AI serves as a human-guided tool rather than replacing people. From a blog that grew to 1.2 million followers, she now deploys robots to inspect gas leaks and thermal hazards in factories, removing the need to risk human lives.

How Can Traditional Villages Find New Life? Chinese and Malaysian Youth Search for Answers
During the 2026 Acceleration Week for China-ASEAN Youth Development Programs, young representatives visited Rongshanliao Village in Haikou, Hainan Province.
Among them was Shawa, a young representative from Malaysia who has spent the past few years working on a community-based homestay project in Kampung Lonek. Though thousands of kilometers apart, the two villages are facing similar questions: How can they create new opportunities while preserving their traditional culture? And how can traditional villages find new life in a changing world?
Perhaps economic development and cultural preservation do not have to be an either-or choice.

More Than Cargo: The Green "Corridor" of China-ASEAN Two-Way Engagement
A corridor is a path for exchanges. Yet between China and ASEAN, a corridor means far more than transporting goods.
From September 17 to 24, the 2026 Acceleration Week for China-ASEAN Youth Development Programs is held in Guangxi and Hainan.
The young participants visited the Pinglu Canal in Nanning and Hainan Free Trade Port. One river stretches toward the sea; one port connects the world. Green resources from ASEAN flow in, while China’s green technologies sail out.
The China-ASEAN Expo and economic and trade matchmaking events build an invisible bridge, bringing projects together and enabling exchanges of ideas.
A genuine corridor is never one-way traffic, but a two-way journey toward shared growth and win-win results. Along this corridor, young people from China and ASEAN move forward hand in hand, speaking up and taking action for the region’s future.
At the 2026 Acceleration Week for China-ASEAN Youth Development, Zahrotuts Tsaniyah from Indonesia introduced GAWIREA's Sand Battery Platform, an initiative delivering reliable thermal infrastructure for fisheries and farmers. Its modular solution combines solar PV, battery storage and sand-based thermal storage for renewable cold storage and clean drying, scalable from sago to coffee, coconut and seaweed. The South Papua flagship has helped 70 women earn independent income, reached 149 households and improved food security for 167 children.

At the 2026 Acceleration Week for China-ASEAN Youth Development, Wang Jiajing (OKJ) from Singapore, a documentary storyteller, introduced his program dedicated to bridging divides — between musicians and non-musicians, and across cultures, nationalities and generations. His work spans films, multicultural music experiences, TikTok series and museum installations. A two-time Singapore Youth Film Festival winner featured by Singapore Airlines and Channel NewsAsia, his 2023 film sold out the country's largest Dolby Atmos cinema, and his 70-episode TikTok series drew 800,000 views.

From September 21 to 23, the 2026 "Youth Potential" Green Development Entrepreneurship Campus, co-hosted by the All-China Youth Federation and UNICEF, was held in Haikou, Hainan. More than 40 experts in entrepreneurship education, young entrepreneurs, and heads of university entrepreneurship clubs from across the country gathered on the campus of Hainan University. Under the theme of green entrepreneurship, they took part in a series of training sessions, exchanges, and field visits.
The 2026 Acceleration Week for China-ASEAN Youth Development Programs was held in Guangxi and Hainan from September 17 to 24.
Stepping into the technology exhibition area of the China-ASEAN Expo, young participants saw a wide range of smart applications and new digital scenarios. The rapid pace of technological iteration amazed youth from all countries.
Technology itself is merely a tool. Its true value lies in dialogue. Young people across borders exchange ideas and share local real demands, opening new space for China-ASEAN digital cooperation.
On September 20 and 21, the Partnership Meetings of the Acceleration Week for China-ASEAN Youth Development Programs, hosted by the All-China Youth Federation, were held in Nanning and Haikou respectively, with 33 initial cooperation intentions reached. The intended areas of cooperation mainly cover technology, education and training, youth exchanges, and culture and tourism.
