AFRICA SEED SUMMIT. The first-ever Africa Seed Summit being hosted by the African Union in Eswatini is testament to the continentโs awakening on food sovereignty. Itโs also a significant step towards actualising the aspirations of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADEP).
Africaโs journey towards long-term food security and agricultural resilience begins with transforming the continent's seed systems.
Power Shift Africa Project Officer, Fredrick Otieno (@afunefredd), has been following the summit. He says: โโThe continent must preserve, own and develop its seeds such as traditional sorghum and millet, cassava and yams, some of which are naturally climate resilient.โโ

So, what does equality mean when women still donโt have equal access to, ownership of, or control over land?
At the 4th Womenโs Land Rights Conference, we are putting womenโs land rights where they belong: at the centre of the conversation.

Africaโs adaptation challenge is not only about responding to worsening climate impacts. It is also about confronting the financial and structural inequalities that leave climate-vulnerable countries carrying a disproportionate share of the cost.
In this article in @ClimateHome News, @PowerShftAfrica director, Mohamed Adow, highlights the need for adaptation to go beyond managing impacts to address the underlying drivers of vulnerability, expand access to fair and adequate finance, and strengthen the ability of African countries and communities to shape their own resilience pathways.

Adaptation cannot remain a conversation, a policy document, or a plan on paper.
Across Africa, communities are already responding to a changing climate. But turning solutions into real protection requires one critical thing: finance.
The time to close the adaptation finance gap is now.
Because when climate impacts threaten lives and livelihoods, adaptation is not optional.
