Congratulations to board member @LorenaMLopera of @Latinos4Ed and Rafaela Polanco Garcia of @SSYPBoston being appointed to BSC!
I am thrilled to appoint Rafaela Polanco Garcia and Lorena Lopera to the Boston School Committee. They bring incredible depth of knowledge and lived experience to the BSC and will help to fill the pages to this new chapter of equity and opportunity for @BostonSchools families.

I’m thrilled that #RafaForSchoolCommittee is trending. I worked with Rafa this year at @SSYPBoston Rafa recently had an awarded named after her based on the work she has done at The Blackstone School. She would be a *huge* asset to the Boston School Committee @Kim_Janey

On family engagement, @SSYPBoston shares how clear communication and convening parents, teachers, and community organizations allowed for unified voice + action in best serving students. Parents became more involved with school & students became more engaged learners #EdVShowcase

I just spent almost $1k on books from @FirstBookMarket for classrooms at The Blackstone! Thanks to @beth_kontos and @Marghla who donated $ to @SSYPBoston MLK Season of Action Classroom Library fund.

Today @LuluDelacre visited with 2 classrooms at The Blackstone. It was a wonderful virtual-students were given a tour of Delacre’s studio. This is Lulu showing a book after it is printed but before it is sewn and trimmed. @WonderMoreBost sponsored books for every student.

So excited for @LuluDelacre author visit today at The Blackstone. The work below is from a class whose students have had their formal education interrupted, and as you can see, they are learning and creating meaning in ways that amaze.
