Day 297 (Part 3): This afternoon we went along to St Stephen and All Martyrs, Lever Bridge to celebrate their school Lieutenancy Programme.
For the last 3 years their Year 6 students have learned all about the honours system and have met with Melanie Bryan (OBE DL) at the beginning of the project to discuss and ask her questions about the honours system.
They then prepare and write their own nominations for their future self to receive an honour, they make medals, decide on the correct level of award for each nomination and hold the investiture ceremony in their church for parents and the rest of the school community, which we had the honour of attending this afternoon.
After the ceremony we were then invited back to the school hall to see the children's work on display and enjoy light refreshments.
It was a heart warming afternoon and the children were an absolute credit to the school and their families.
