Before Hollywood, I was living in a van in Hawaii and waiting tables at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. One day, the incredible Rae Dawn Chong walked into the restaurant, and naturally, I went up to her table and said, “Hey, you’re a movie star! What are you doing here?”
She asked if I could act, and I said, “Fuck yeah, put me in your movie!”
She asked for my phone number. The only problem was I didn’t have one. So I gave her my buddy Mike’s number instead. A couple days later, Mike casually mentions, “Oh, by the way, someone called you.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME, MIKE?!
I called her back, and sure enough, she was serious. I drove over to pick up the script, went back to Mike’s house, and read all 120 pages three times in a row. First script I’d ever read. My character's name was Devon, and I remember thinking, “Sweet! I could totally play a Devon!”
I showed up to the audition with every line and inflection mapped out in pencil. Rae told me I could act and offered me the part. I asked if we were shooting in Hawaii. Nope. Los Angeles.
I had about $60 to my name, a bag of clothes, and some rollerblades.
Then Rae told me they'd fly me out. And I remember thinking right then and there, my life just changed forever. I'm going to be an actor.
That little movie was Cursed Part 3, a low-budget horror comedy that opened the door to Hollywood for me.
I'll forever be grateful to Rae for taking a chance on a kid working at a shrimp restaurant. Everybody starts somewhere, and this is where it all began for me.

Patrick was one of those icons who we somehow all took for granted would always be with us.
I grew up as a fan, and was later gifted the privilege of becoming a colleague and friend, working with him for many years on “American Dad!”, “Family Guy”, and “Ted”. He was that rare actor who could take any bit of dialogue and elevate it, making a good writer sound great, and a great writer sound masterful. He was also as humble as they come. I remember exchanging emails with him a number of years ago when he was beginning day 1 of a new film. He commented to me that he always walked onto a new set feeling like the biggest novice there. My stunned reaction was the same as anyone’s would be. I said, “Patrick, if you feel that way, the rest of us are screwed.” We have lost a legendary actor today, and for many of us, a good friend. He will be deeply missed by the entire planet.

Jack Lowden is officially our last hope. He would, unquestionably, be a better James Bond than Jacob Elordi, or Callum Turner for that matter. Not only does he have the requisite acting chops, Lowden is the perfect level of famous to take on 007: real ones know how great of an actor he is from Slow Horses but the masses probably don’t know him as well yet. He’s ripe for Bond. I want this to happen.

Tom Cruise gave an iconic performance in Digger that will last forever. To all the critics who unjustifiably swung at this film - you are on the wrong side of history. @TheAcademy for once can you please get this right? At least a nomination - it has to happen for Cruise here. He’s simply unbelievable.

Absolutely. I always tell me clients, there are only two things you can control: the quantity and quality of your writing.
#GodzillaMinusZero first reactions are calling the sequel "jaw-dropping," an "overwhelming achievement" and a “glorious continuation of the first film.”
"Toho should win another Oscar for this film. Should be nominated for best picture."

EXCLUSIVE: #TomHardy explains how #MobLand season 2 changes Harry in one major way and how it's amplifying the stakes for the new season:
"Season 2 was [showrunner] Jez [Butterworth] had the idea to disband everybody, to pull them back together in the face of a fearless adversary who was much more dangerous, and that was possibly led by a figure who was left as a looming shadow in season 1."

Tom Cruise says it originally took six hours for the “Digger” hair and makeup team to apply his Digger Rockwell prosthetics, but he quickly made the process “more efficient” by showing up with a chalkboard and timing how long it took to put each prosthetic on:
“I had a guy there with a stopwatch and I’m like, ‘OK, you see that time, six hours? By the time we’re done, we’re going to get it under an hour.’ They were like, ‘No, I’m not doing that, it will never happen.’ I’m like, ‘OK, first of all, if you say no, you can’t do it, you will never get there. So can we agree that we’ll maybe make it a little less?’ So with each piece that was going on, it was timed and then we’d drill and practice.”
It worked, and they eventually got his makeup and prosthetics routine down to under an hour: “They were like, ‘What?!’ And they didn’t even know it, and they didn’t even rush. I like going into a system, studying it and trying to figure out how I can do it better, more efficient. The films that I make, I’m constantly going, how can I do it better?”

The Gentlemen Season 2 has impressed from what I’ve seen so far. My full review is going up later this week, but this season is far darker than last season. I think a big reason is Giancarlo Esposito, Vinnie Jones & my guy Ray Winstone. Three veteran actors. Three traditional “tough guys”. They’re getting a lot of shine in Season 2 & it’s brought out way more violence. And I’ve enjoyed it all.
