@billysharp10 is not simply a Sheffield United legend. He is part of the story of what it means to be a Blade. A Sheffield lad who grew up dreaming of wearing the red and white. A supporter who became our captain, our talisman and one of the greatest goalscorers ever to represent this football club. He didn’t just play for Sheffield United. He carried us. Through the setbacks, promotions, heartbreak and unforgettable nights, Billy became part of the very identity of our club. His goals made history, but his passion made him one of us. And now, as you hang up your boots, Billy, how do you thank someone who has given so much to the club they love? I’ll never forget 2016/17. Six long seasons in League One, then our captain scoring 30 league goals as we reached 100 points and won the title. You didn’t just lead us to promotion. You helped give us our Sheffield United back. Then came 2018/19. That unforgettable hat-trick at Villa Park, including your 100th goal for the Blades in all competitions. Twenty-three league goals, another promotion, and suddenly we were heading back to the Premier League. Our Billy. Our number 10. Our captain. And who else could have scored our first Premier League goal in twelve years? Bournemouth away. Billy Sharp celebrating. Thousands of Blades losing their minds. It simply had to be you. The goals that sent the Kop into raptures. The late winners. Those unforgettable nights under the Bramall Lane floodlights. Your historic penalty against Newcastle United in 2021, your 100th league goal for the Blades, securing our first Premier League victory of that difficult season. Your dramatic FA Cup winner against Wrexham in 2023. And then another promotion to the Premier League. Three promotions. Hundreds of goals. Countless memories. But what I will remember most is how much you cared. You wore our shirt with pride because you understood what it represented. You celebrated like a supporter because you were one. You hurt when we hurt. You fought when we needed someone to fight. Every time you walked onto that pitch, you were living the dream of thousands in the stands. Because football is never just about football. It’s about the people we share it with. The strangers who become friends. The arms we throw ourselves into when the ball hits the net. The loved ones no longer with us who would have cherished those moments. And the memories that remain long after the final whistle. Billy, you are part of those memories for generations of Sheffield United supporters. Children will grow up hearing stories about the captain who led us out of League One, the Sheffield lad who took his beloved Blades back to the Premier League, and the player who gave everything for the badge. So thank you, Billy. For every goal, celebration, last-minute winner and moment of sheer joy. For the promotions, the unforgettable afternoons and the magical nights when Bramall Lane felt like the greatest place on earth. For being a captain we could be proud of and a man who understood what it meant to be a Blade. How fitting that even your final appearance brought a hat-trick. One last reminder of the goalscorer we loved watching for so many years. Now it’s time for your family, your happiness and everything life has waiting. You have earned every moment. Legends are remembered for what they achieve. The truly special ones are remembered for how they made us feel. And Billy, you made us feel everything. You gave us hope, belief and memories that no amount of time will ever take away. The final whistle may have sounded on your playing career, but it cannot end what you mean to this club. Your name is woven into our history, our songs and the memories passed from one generation of Blades to the next. Our Billy. Our Captain. Our Number 10. A Sheffield lad who lived his dream and gave the rest of us memories to last a lifetime. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for absolutely everything ♥️⚔️♥️
