@TakuKobayashiM1 Important article. Is rate of relapse similar for patient in remission for many years? Discontinuation of infliximab in patients with ulcerative colitis in remission (HAYABUSA): a multicentre, open-labe… pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3388…

If you are concerned at least a little bit about the anti-Asian hate going on now, you may get heartened by the courage and perseverance Asian Immigrants muster to make it in America, as portrayed in #Minari.

Inspiring #whitecoat ceremony this wk for one of most diverse @UCSFMedicine classes. Activism critical in #COVID19 times. Fave line from @UCSF version:

He was a force in the field yet humble and soft spoken. @IOIBD1 members and the #ibd community will miss him
Devastating news today that #IBD legend Prof Paul Rutgeerts passed away.
He was a giant and leader and the nicest gentleman in the truest sense.
We owe him thanks for so much in our field including our approaches to post-op #Crohns, TDM, much more.
RIP

I’m extremely sad with the lost of Paul Rutgeerts. Undoubtedly one of the greatest name in the IBD field from all times. Beside that a very kind man. We used to talk a lot to each other every time we met. I’ll miss him. The IBD world will miss him. Everybody will.

Our pilot study showed ACEI/ARB is associated with lower risk of GI involvement in COVID-19 patients with hypertension. Needs to be validated. @IBD_FloMD @MRegueiroMD @RashidLui @GianlucaPellino @DrXiaoGIPath. gastrojournal.org/article/S0…
Congrats to my son, Dr. @StephenCYang. A virtual graduation @NYUDental in no way does him justice, but I am proud of him for persevering through these difficult times. Best of luck to Stephen as he begins medical school and residency training in Maxillofacial Surgery at @UCSF !

We lost 84 New Yorkers to COVID-19 yesterday. By any normal standard this is a hideous number. But we are thankful this number has fallen below 100 for the first time since late March.
We just wanted to assess the natural history of asymptomatic ileal ulcerations and our patients agreed. @guthealthmd
Agree. So why were 93% of people repeating a colonoscopy in 1 year? @SKYangMD great paper!

Today we are releasing additional preliminary results from our statewide antibody survey.
The survey shows that 12.3% of the state population is positive for COVID-19 antibodies, from an expanded sample size of 15,000.

Brooklyn: 19.2%
Manhattan: 17.3%

Still a long way to go.
Today, the entire country of Korea had only 4 new COVID cases - all picked up at the airport in travelers coming into the country - suggesting no community spread. I hope this continues 🤞- a glimmer of hope for the rest of the world. I wish we had their PPE though. #COVID19
Very nice study!
Inpatient use of ACE inhibitors and ARBs associated with lower mortality in pts with HTN hospitalized with #COVID19. Very nice study. No mention of GI symptoms in these patients (remember ACE2 is expressed in intestines too) but that would be interesting.

Happy #EarthDay. We have one planet. Let’s work together to protect it and to protect each other.
Unfortunately no negative pressure rooms available at out endoscopy units. But practical and useful guidance overall.
