“Children should learn that reading is pleasure, not just something that teachers make you do in school.”
Thank you, Beverly Cleary for creating the stories that so many of us enjoyed reading as children. Rest in peace.
Thank you SEF for the grant that allowed us to bring Ibi Zoboi to SHS @SummitSchoolsNJ
Summit High School teachers were treated to an amazing presentation by @ibizoboi today. It was wonderful to hear background info about her novels, her writing process, the importance of representation in books, and pairing contemporary novels with classics @SummitSchoolsNJ @NJASL

Is Rush Limbaugh the greatest conservative radio pioneer of all time? Or is he a racist/misogynist? That depends on which news source you’re reading. This illustrates the importance of reading various news sources. Locate the facts. Decide for yourself. @NewsLitProject @NJASL

We created a teaching tool for our teachers that will help students combat mis/disinformation. Students need regular practice recognizing and researching claims. Thank you @jzimnycricket and @NewsLitProject for the inspiration and @holden for the example. #newsliteracy

School leaders: you can't tell teachers to experiment and "fail forward" during a pandemic and then continue to use the same teacher evaluation tools. The "permission to fail" has to include changes to policies and protocols.
Love this idea
So often we hear, “I didn’t know what to say” when we encounter hate, racism, & bias. I love that you’ve given your school community language to interrupt & speak up in these moments. 🙌🏾@SUABULLDOGS #OneDegreeShift #SpeakUp
