ALT Infographic showing pink boxes on a blue background. Title: What will Scotland's gender recognition reform actually change? It removes the need for a Gender dysphoria diagnosis. It removes the need for submission of medical research. It removes the need for detailed evidence of living as your authentic self. It removes the need for a two year wait before a Gender Recognition Certificate can be issued. It introduces a statutory declaration of gender called Self ID, it introduces that 16-18 year olds can apply for a GRC, it introduces the National Records of Scotland as the people who handle the applications and the Registrar General will now do an annual report.

ALT It is disappointing that one of the first actions of the new Minister for Women and Equalities is to use their Parliamentary privilege to spread misinformation and untruths. They inaccurately stated that I use "Twitter as a tool for defamation”, also alleging that “Members of this House” have sued me. This is a disgrace and a complete fabrication, seeing as neither PinkNews nor I have ever been successfully sued by anyone. She then referred to the Member for Edinburgh South West (Joanna Cherry) having sued me/PinkNews. This is untrue and I would have hoped that a cabinet minister would understand the important legal distinction between a threat and actually bringing a court case against an individual or organisation. I await a formal apology from the Minister, as well as for her to correct the Parliamentary record. Benjamin Cohen Chief Executive, PinkNews Group
