On my last trip to Melbourne (pre-COVID) I booked the Rydges on Swanston (now the Park Hotel) because of its proximity to my conference. It was grubby, with no opening windows, & western sun beating in. I checked out after an hour. We’ve imprisoned asylum-seekers there for years
