Today the Australian Parliament achieved an excellent outcome for the future of Australian Research with the passage of the ARC Amendment Bill.
A rigorous ARC is in the national interest and the reforms are widely backed by the sector. We thank @JasonClareMP for driving this important reform agenda and the ARC Review Panel and @ProfSDodds @MargaretSheil @prof_hutchinson for their work.

Very pleased to see the swift passage of the ARC legislation curtailing the ability of the ministerial veto. We @auDASSH are pleased about this long overdue reform.
Great to see the ARC Bill passed in the Senate today. This means an end to ministerial vetoes on research projects except on national security grounds. No more political interference in research funding at the expense of the humanities. A great outcome! dassh.edu.au/statement-end-t…
