In Episode 152, with Sona Sulakian, VP of AI Product at Filevine, she walked us through the pros and cons of co-founding a company with a sibling. Thanks to @RyanM_Anderson for helping @NickJRishwain get this interview!

There’s a certain rush in solving something without AI now.
I spent far too long using AI to design a new experience. Eventually I said, “f*** this,” went back to basic design principles, and got over my mind-block almost immediately.
I forgot how good that feels.

For almost 30 yrs my job has been convincing companies, many of them Fortune 500, that they should expand into SLC & Utah. I’ve toured 1000’s of out of towners through the city and state.
I’m born and raised in SLC. 5th gen. I’ve seen every yr and decade of SLC evolution since the 70’s.
There is ZERO argument that today is the absolute best version of SLC in the last 50 yrs. It’s ascendancy is parabolic right now. Plenty of bumps and issues to iron out, but the trend line is awesome. Always long SLC, always long UT.

as far as i can tell, there is one tried and true way to separate yourself:
care more.
want it more.
just care way, way more than most people think is reasonable.
the one who wins is usually the one who wants it more.

BigLaw is building AI capability the rest of the profession never sees. Deposition simulators for associates to practice against. Internal agent libraries. Firm-wide deployments with real training behind them.
The competence gap everyone worries about is quietly becoming a resource gap. The solo down the hall from nobody is competing against firms that have industrialized the learning curve. Adapt the public tools aggressively, because that's the only version of this you get to run.

I do use Ai in my field and it helps (semiconductors) but can't replace engineers in any way, not even juniors
