Today we’re rolling out a new version of LOIS Reviews to every customer in Word. Review is already one of the most-used parts of LOIS. And while we’re building a lot of new experiences, we also spend a lot of time making the things people already use substantially better. Review sounds like a simple AI problem. And most products will give the model a doc and ask it to flag issues.

In practice, good legal review requires a lot more thought. You need to understand the document, know what matters to your particular firm, check different kinds of issues, and really understand both tone and nuance.

The new Review uses several agents at different stages of the process, with each one doing a more specific job. They can reason over the document together with your organization’s guidance and context, then turn that into comments you can actually act on in Word. The result is a much better review. Our own legal team is loving it.

Take it for a spin and give us your thoughts. filevine.com/updates/review-…

Swap jobs to tasks and you are likely right. But: Look to coding. AI is basically 100% of coding now. I think for most companies. Certainly ours. But we are hiring MORE developers. The surface area of code just exploded. Way more than 10x. Law will be the same.
As an attorney, I'd estimate that AI will take about 90% of attorney jobs within the next decade.

Code is now often deployed in autonomous loops at Filevine. Autonomy will happen in legal too. Soon 😏 But autonomy in legal will be different than code. Review and responsibility is essential.

Two updates with LOIS this week (many more linked in the change log below) but these two are close to my heart and go together. It's wild how long exhibit binders take to put together. What if you could just tell LOIS to "put together the exhibit binder?" One-shot exhibit curation and PDF building in LOIS Console turns case documents into a demand packet, all through chat, with one natural-language prompt. Combine, split and reorder Word docs, spreadsheets, images, emails and PDFs Break up a large record by provider or date range Label exhibits and add a table of contents with clickable links Apply Bates numbers with your own prefix Fix a name, date or amount in an existing PDF Any text LOIS adds follows common court formatting rules, down to leaving room for the filing stamp LOIS tells you what it changed in the PDF, what it didn’t, and any assumptions it made Intake a new case, just got a document dump? Organizing all those docs and filling out fields used to take hours. This sounds so stupid now. Document Claimer lets you claim, rename and organize one document or many across multiple projects in a single prompt in LOIS console, and it puts each file in the right subfolder. And of course, LOIS can fill out all the fields in your template with data from those docs. Plenty more shipped this week. The full list: filevine.com/updates/?utm_so…

I was at ILTA. This is for sure happening. We are all building a lot of the same things.
.@OpenRouter co-founder Alex Atallah on the "everyone is building the same thing" take: "This reminds me of this tweet I saw... Everybody's building an agent loop with notifications, third-party connectors, context management, memory, sandboxes, agentic web search, an always-on agent on top." "This product is showing up everywhere. It is showing up everywhere, but these are just the new table-stakes primitives." "A 2005 version of that tweet would be: 'Oh, everybody's building the same thing. A database, a users table, a sign-in page, a sign-up page, a profile page, a logout page. Everything's the same.'" "There's like a lot of differentiation really. There's table-stakes needs for AI just like there's table-stakes needs for the web." @alexatallah @amasad

Legal AI should remember what you already told it. That idea shaped a big week of updates to LOIS. Here's what our product team shipped. LOIS for Word remembers more, so you repeat yourself less: Referencing Prior Chats pulls context from earlier conversations into Word. No more re-explaining the deal every time. Remembered Company Profile keeps your last-used profile in Word and Web, so you don't reselect it for every document. Draft from Example now takes as many examples as you need, so drafts match your full style, not just one sample. @ mention a Filevine file and the actual file now attaches to the conversation, not just its name. You set the rules. LOIS does the clicking: Playbook rules can now be set to redline and comment, redline only, or comment only. Approve for Me applies drafting edits automatically instead of making you accept each one. Small things that make a big difference: Paste or drag in a screenshot of a docket, an email or a text thread and ask LOIS about it. Preview an uploaded file to confirm it's the right document before you ask about it. Composer stays connected through network drops. No freezing, no lost session. For admins and firm leaders: Template Builder lets admins build Filevine templates by chatting with a dedicated agent, with editable previews. Power Users in Analytics shows who on your team uses LOIS most, plus time-saved and active-user charts. And LOIS for Word is now live in Canada, on Canada-based servers with sign-in routed to the right region. That's one week. Twelve updates. That’s the pace this team works at, and this team does it with real craftsmanship. I'm proud to build alongside them. See everything we shipped: filevine.com/updates/

Conference edicts have 48hr grace period. You’re fine.
Will I listen to and watch LDS Conference today? Absolutely Did I bet $100 on BYU beating TCU and $100 on BYU beating TCU by more than 6.5 on the Kalshi App? Also yes. I don’t feel like it’s gambling when it’s an absolute 🔒.

Human engineers used sneakily cut scope (in the before-times) But now agents sneakily add. I wonder if it’s incentives.
I really enjoy when I catch my agent sneakily adding scope to what I set it out to do. Very satisfying to scold it before I cry.
