Lots of people are spreading this $17 million fire budget cut story, and it's just not accurate. Good thread.

Karen Bass did not cut $17 million from the fire budget. Los Angeles is busy today, with better things to do than feed you budget appropriations. So I will— 1. In '23 the department spent $12 million on new SCBAs because the old set expired. This was not a recurring expense! 2/

The LA fire department's budget was not cut by 17 million. It was increased by 50 million.

So Apple Music is cheaper, has MUCH better sound quality, has Dolby atmos, integrates with the default iPhone music app, gives you WEEKLY and monthly listening stats as well as yearly and some of yall still prefer Spotify?

The #Chiefs have considered not using Harrison Butker for all kickoffs and instead using a player like safety Justin Reid. Special teams coordinator Dave Toub said the new kickoff rule has kickers more involved in tackles, and they don't want that for Butker. The full answer is worth a listen. The new NFL kickoff rule is such a huge change.... (via @Chiefs)

u made me feel so specialll ty say goodbye grimace nowww
a picture of me (Grimace) being happy and waving goodbye with my right hand. I am wearing very cool shades. There's a red umbrella behind me with a McDonald's logo. Hamburglar and Birdie are standing next to me but we can barely see them as I do not know out to crop a picture properly.

There's a tradition of film directors and studios congratulating each other for beating their box office records. A THREAD. 1/11: In 1977, when STAR WARS beat Jaws to become the highest-grossing movie ever, Steven Spielberg took out the below ad for George Lucas in @Variety
