Dear Xers -
Just a heads up - I’m abandoning this platform shortly for all the reasons. I’m over on Bluesky (handle below) where the grass is greener and the vibe is way more palatable. Please find me there if you’ve done the switch.

The juxtaposition in this video is astounding for two reasons:
1. The fact that almost every single person is recording on their phone, there is no apparent collective joy. From this angle it feels as if almost nobody is truly living in or cherishing the moment.
2. Then in the center of the crowd are a courageous but small group of people trying to bring attention to the slaughter in Palestine, waving the flag.
That juxtaposition: The attendees’ apparent disconnection from real life and the people around them in order to record a moment digitally, while people right in front of them are literally begging for innocent lives to be saved — This shot could be a @blackmirror episode.

Merriam-Webster's word of the year is "authentic"; I think I just heard the entire discipline of folklore studies groan in unison.

Gaza is a 'textbook genocide'.
This is according to Raz Segal - an Israeli associate professor of Holocaust and genocide studies at Stockton University in the US.
Listen carefully to what he says.
It's based on facts, law and precedent - and it should terrify you.

Raz Segal - associate professor of Holocaust and genocide studies at Stockton University - offers a masterclass which is as chilling as it is urgent.
