Oct 20 — Dagon (2001) Perhaps one of the most true-to-Lovecraft movies. I’ve watched this a few times and grow more impressed with it each time.

Oct 19 — Evil Dead II (1987) It sounds like a sequel, but it’s really a remake. Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell remade this movie. It’s truly amazing. @GroovyBruce

Oct 18 — Re-Animator (1985) A movie that will always have a special place in my heart, next to the bone saw. Introduced me to Lovecraft, Barbara Crampton, and Jeffrey Combs. Gore galore. Not for kids. We begin #Lovecraft week.

Oct 17 — Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) From the genius of Ray Bradbury. Another ’80s night. Autumn, a carnival, and the feeling that the season itself is hunting you. Family friendly. More about fatherhood than horror, but still a great entry.

Oct 16 — Fright Night (1985) The movie that made me a Chris Sarandon fan for life. Another ’80s entry. So genius it spawned a sequel, then a remake, then a sequel to the remake. @sarandon_chris

Oct 15 — The Fog (1980) The original The Fog. Back to the ’80s. Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis, even Janet Leigh and Hal Holbrook. A Carpenter classic, and his first entry this October. @abarbeau

Oct 14 — Shaun of the Dead (2004) The quintessential zombie comedy. The zomedy. This one put the actors on the map and brought zombie love to people who weren’t interested. @edgarwright

Oct 13: Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed (2004) One of the rare cases where the sequel is better than the first movie. This may be my favorite werewolf entry.

Oct 12 — Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead (2014) Another sequel to finish the story. If zombie Nazis weren’t enough for you — and let’s be honest, there are never enough zombies — tonight we add zombie Commies. Do it.

Oct 11 — Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy (1955) Same team, different monster, still standing 70 years later. If the kids liked Frankenstein last Sunday, this is the encore.
