We considered the responsibilities of investigators, sponsors, institutions and committee members, and the current legal landscape, including constitutional rights, the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology framework and the applicable data protection and privacy laws. Tax Alert: The @TaxAppealug has, in Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa v @URAuganda , clarified that the statutory 30% deposit of disputed tax is only payable upon filing a substantive application and need not be paid as a lump sum. Taxpayers may therefore satisfy the requirement through instalments, subject to URA’s approval, with the Tribunal empowered to review an unreasonable denial by URA.
