Most people in France can't afford housing. They didn't blame immigrants, or transgender people, or video games, or avocado toast. They blame the government. Because that's who's responsible. That's always who's responsible.

The President of the United States taking the piss out of a mentally ill man who died just a couple of days before. Frankly, I expected nothing less from this sociopathic arsehole.

"He signed the will on 12 April 2003. He was 24, he hadn't met Michelle Williams, and his daughter would not exist for another two and a half years. Heath Ledger died on 22 January 2008 in New York, at 28, from an accidental prescription drug overdose. His daughter Matilda was two years old. When the will surfaced, the headline wrote itself: she wasn't in it. Everything went to his parents and his three sisters. The document itself listed his assets and cash at just $118,000 — the accurate picture of a 24-year-old actor's finances in 2003. By the time he died, the estate was reported to be worth more than $16.3 million. Legally, none of that belonged to his daughter. And there was immediate speculation in the press about whether Michelle Williams would fight for it. She never did. There was no claim, no dispute, no case. Because the family had already decided, and according to his father Kim Ledger, the plan was in place from the moment his son died. ""Our family has gifted everything to Matilda,"" he said. ""There was never any question about the fact that Heath's estate would go to Matilda. Never a question. We are very close to Michelle and Matilda."" The family — Kim, Sally, Kate, Olivia and Ashleigh — put it more plainly still: Matilda was an absolute priority, and Michelle was an integral part of their family. Five people who were legally entitled to sixteen million dollars gave all of it to a toddler, and treated the question as though it were too obvious to discuss. Then something similar happened on the other side of the world. Ledger had been about a third of the way through filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus for Terry Gilliam when he died. Production stopped. The film looked finished in the worst sense. The solution Gilliam arrived at was strange and, as it turned out, perfect: Ledger's character travels through a dream world, so his role could be recast as transformations of the same man. Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell each stepped in to play a version of him. And none of them took the money. All three donated their entire fees to Matilda, specifically because they knew about the old will that hadn't included her. Gilliam, asked about it at the time, said they didn't take money, it went to Heath's daughter — and that being part of something like that reminded him why he'd wanted to work in film in the first place. He'd thought it would be full of wonderful people. On that production, he said, it was. The finished film carries a dedication: A film from Heath Ledger and friends. None of the three attended the premiere in 2009. Farrell's partner had just given birth, Depp was shooting, Law was at a charity gala. Whatever their reasons, not one of them turned up to be photographed next to the thing they'd done for free. Matilda is twenty now. She lives in New York with her mother and has stayed almost entirely out of public life, which is exactly as it should be. An old piece of paper, written by a young man who couldn't have imagined her, said she got nothing. Eight adults looked at that piece of paper and decided it didn't count.” ♥️♥️
