;@Rootclaim is an interesting approach to the truth. They use a priori probabilities to events and then update on each piece of evidence with their work laid out for criticism They've a strong record of arriving at truths on hot-button issues that moved in their favor over time

During these few days before a full moon, a curious phenomenon appears in the sky. It is also the most interesting evidence I heard from flat earthers - illustrating a common fallacy.

Reminder that ⁦@Rootclaim⁩ called it early on when this was still considered a wild conspiracy theory. (rootclaim.com/analysis/What-… ). Rather than calling theories “conspiracy” better to assess theories and hypotheses based on evidence and probability. dailymail.co.uk/news/article…

Feel free to tag any scientists or journalists onto this thread if they're convinced of a natural #OriginOfCovid after reading the recent preprints or, more likely, other reporters' articles. I'm sure they can make it through 20 tweets if they read the 150+ pages of preprints.

Note that a $100,000 challenge on this issue is already available for a year now, with zero applicants so far. I understand you're confident in your position at a level sufficient for betting, so looking forward to your application. xitter.cf/Rootclaim/status/13768…
Our analysis indicates that COVID-19 resulted from a lab leak in Wuhan, and we’re staking $100,000 against anyone who thinks otherwise. This is more than an academic debate, or about pointing fingers: it can inform decisions to prevent future pandemics. rootclaim.com/rootclaim_chal…

@saarwilf how can we get a debate going between @Rootclaim and @VPrasadMDMPH? I'd throw $10k in a pot to make it happen.

When we examined it at @rootclaim, we considered an intentional release of a coronavirus in Wuhan to be unlikely for the Chinese government. Doing so near bat habitats might be more reasonable. A Wuhan intentional release is reasonable for another party trying to frame China.

I’ve been forever troubled by...how our flawed brains cause intelligent people to reach such different conclusions from the same evidence...failure to adopt cheap Covid treatments, demonstrated how this problem could become an existential risk to humanity. israelnationalnews.com/News/…

Rootclaim's probabilistic analyses often go against popular narratives, but no one has accepted their $100,000 challenges so far. In today's podcast, we talk to the website's founder Saar Wilf about Rootclaim's method and his entrepreneurial background. globalguessing.com/saar-wilf…

No, there is no new study that "shows vitamin D is ineffective against Covid-19". This is the same Brazil study from November, now officially published, and it has several limitations that make it nearly useless. Here's why:

I see people are practicing their twitter peer-review skills on the new vitamin D study. Yes, you are very smart, but you're missing the point and causing damage. Thread explaining why, and how to do better >>>

More people die from car accidents than bear attacks, but if you saw a sleuth of bears (really that's the name) running at you, you wouldn't say to the bear, cars kill more people. You'd take that time to attempt some social distancing maneuvers, really fast.

Costs are often the most important piece of information for making good decisions. We must publish cost data. @gdiacona provides exact guidelines on how to do it for #conservation in @ConBiology onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/… @WCSNewsroom @BushHeritageAus @nature_org @Society4ConBio

I'm suggesting debating the around 7 known attacks that show some evidence of sarin use, and discussing who is the most likely party behind them. I also suggest we each put $10,000, and a panel of impartial experts awards it depending on which hypothesis they find more convincing
