New study is out! We project global changes to boreal forest tree densities by 2100 which will increase wildfire risks and affect forest funtioning.

Curious how permafrost thaw might be impacting Arctic/Boreal productivity? We were too, so we combined >30years of ground temp data from @GSC_CGC with @NASA Landsat NDVI records along the Mackenzie Valley in the NWT 🇨🇦. @elogden led this work for her MSc thesis @LaurierBiology.

#Forests 🌲❄️ | Boreal forests are expected to move northwards due to climate change. An international study, led by WUR, used 20 years of tree cover data from satellites to observe how boreal forests in North America are changing. Want to know how? ⤵️ bit.ly/3p1XcrM

Boreal forests are expanding at high latitudes & declining at southern boundaries. Rotbarth et al. show that such trends are not symmetrical in North America.

My first co-authored paper! Super excited! Vegetation succession in the Siberian tundra is strongly coupled to permafrost dynamics. Degraded permafrost may recover through these trajectories but on a much longer timescale. tiny.cc/2f6asz #Arctic #tundra #ClimateChange
Great annual meeting of @NESSCresearch last week. Lots of new exciting research on #ClimateChange reconstruction and impacts. Proud to be part of our smart team @WUR.
Very honoured and happy to have been accepted by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation @studienstiftung . Thank you so much! My sincere gratitude goes to @AlistairJump for the reference and the years of support!!
