One of capitalism's achievements is making extraordinary things so ordinary that nobody thinks about them anymore. A century ago, keeping food refrigerated was a luxury. Today, we get annoyed when our ice maker breaks.

Between 1820 and 1900, real GDP per capita in the United States grew eightfold. No welfare state. No central bank. No income tax. The federal government consumed less than 3% of GDP for most of that period, and the results speak for themselves. Secure property rights, contract enforcement, and a commodity-backed dollar created the conditions where capital formation exploded. Entrepreneurs knew that what they built, they kept. John D. Rockefeller drove kerosene prices from 58 cents per gallon in 1865 to under 8 cents by 1885, delivering affordable light to millions of ordinary households, not through government mandate but through relentless productive competition. Real wages for manufacturing workers doubled between 1860 and 1890. Immigration surged because workers across Europe calculated, correctly, that their labor earned more in Philadelphia or Pittsburgh than anywhere in the old world. Markets made that signal clear. Critics point to inequality, child labor, and dangerous working conditions, ignoring that mass poverty preceded industrial capitalism. Andrew Carnegie's Pittsburgh was brutal, but it was also dramatically better than the subsistence farming the workers' grandparents had endured. The railroad network grew from 9,000 miles in 1850 to over 160,000 miles by 1890, financed almost entirely by private capital once you exclude the genuinely corrupt land-grant subsidies, which free market thinkers condemned at the time. State intervention produced scandals; private lines produced the freight. Minimal government produced the fastest sustained material improvement in recorded human history to that point.

After the most expensive primary race in US House history saw Rep. Thomas Massie defeated by outside money, businessman Jeremy Todd stepped up to run for Kentucky's 4th district as a Libertarian Party member. Can a third party candidate win in today's electoral atmosphere? What would it take? How can we fix the system? Watch the interview with Jeremy Todd (@Jtodd601) below:

If Trump doesn’t pardon Ross on Day One the LP & it’s bureaucrats should never be forgiven for giving him a stage & allowing him to use Ross’s life as a political lever to trick sympathetic Libertarians into voting for him.

We are not in “late stage capitalism” What we’re at is late stage empire when the government increasingly takes control of the market, devalues the currency & wastes money overseas.

STOP! You probably broke the law today! Criminal law has exploded. There are more than 300,000 federal laws alone. 98% are created, not by Congress, but by unelected bureaucrats:

The natural minimum wage has always been zero. What they don’t tell you is that forcing the artificial minimum wage to $15 will just ensure that more people make the natural minimum wage of zero.

I'm just gonna warn you all right now that I will have no tolerance for racist and sexist attacks against Kamala Harris. Kamala Harris is one of the most corrupt human beings to ever run for president. Withholding the truth to keep innocent people on death row, using prisoners as slave labor, manipulating evidence, keeping people past their sentence dates, convicting people harshly for victimless crimes she was also guilty of, going after mothers who don't participate in the school system, loads of terrible policy positions, etc. There are no shortage of character and diplomatic issues with her. But her gender and race are non-issues. I hate our history of discrimination. I root for people to break the cycle and refuse to let prejudice define them. As a Christian, nationalists and judgmental jerks try to conflate their voice with mine. As a peace advocate, Putin supporters and red fash goons try to conflate their voice with mine. As a market economist, anti-semites and elitists try to conflate their voice with mine. Lessons learned. This time, there will be no conflation. I will not allow my stance against Kamala Harris to be anything other than a strong principled and moral objection. I have no taste to dilute this important message with bigotry. I oppose Trump strongly and for fair, legitimate reasons. Harris will get the exact same treatment. Character matters. @ChaseForLiberty for president.

What’s happening in Argentina will be studied for decades. It should especially be studied in the U.S., where both sides now seem to believe in tax-and-spend policies. In June, monthly inflation was 2.6%. High? Inflation in June 2023 was 5.95%. Think about that: without price controls and by removing subsidies every month, Milei is already achieving lower inflation rates than his socialist predecessors. And he’s doing this after inheriting a country in the midst of hyperinflation, with 30-day inflation surpassing double digits every month. And no, inflation isn’t being controlled by an economic crisis. In fact, in May, the economy saw its first year-over-year increase in seven months. The Monthly Economic Activity Estimator (EMAE) advanced by 2.3% compared to 2023 and rose by 1.3% from April, the first positive data since last August. It’s not magic. It’s what classical liberals have been saying for decades: inflation is a monetary phenomenon; to control inflation, you need to control government spending.

Capitalism has actually INCREASED in popularity with the grassroots since 2016. But right wing politicians have moved the other direction. They’re betting on Americans being too uneducated to spot the difference in the values they claim & the policies they push.

You know the country is in rough shape when there's an assassination attempt and the only real debate is to whether or not the government was in on it or are they just so fucking awful at even the most basic tasks that we can no longer tell the difference

There’s a new Presidential candidate. He's @ChaseForLiberty, and he’s a libertarian - like me! What does that mean? “A libertarian is someone that allows you to live your life in peace, free from government intrusion,” explains Oliver.

For those who don't understand what Chevron Deference is, and why SCOTUS ended it, here's the long and short of it: A family fishing company, Loper Bright Enterprises, was being driven out of business, because they couldn't afford the $700 per day they were being charged by the National Marine Fisheries Service to monitor their company. The thing is, federal law doesn't authorize NMFS to charge businesses for this. They just decided to start doing it in 2013. Why did they think they could away with just charging people without any legal authorization? Because in 1984, in the Chevron decision, the Supreme Court decided that regulatory agencies were the "experts" in their field, and the courts should just defer to their "interpretation" of the law. So for the past 40 years, federal agencies have been able to "interpret" laws to mean whatever they want, and the courts had to just go with it. It was called Chevron Deference, and it put bureaucrats in charge of the country. It's how the OHSA was able to decide that everyone who worked for a large company had to get the jab, or be fired. No law gave them that authority, they just made it up. It's how the ATF was able to decide a piece of plastic was a "machine gun". It's how the NCRS was able to decide that a small puddle was a "protected wetlands". It's how out-of-control agencies have been able to create rules out of thin air, and force you to comply, and the courts had to simply defer to them, because they were the "experts". Imagine if your local police could just arrest you, for any reason, and no judge or jury was allowed to determine if you'd actually committed a crime or not. Just off to jail you go. That's what Chevron Deference was. It was not only blatantly unconstitutional, it caused immeasurable harm to everyone. Thankfully, it's now gone. We haven't even begun to feel the effects of this decision in the courts. It will be used, for years to come, to roll back federal agencies, and we'll all be better of for it. And that's why politicians and corporate media are freaking out about it.

I think some struggle with the concept of freedom. Let me clarify. This is NOT what I’m into, but I’m not this adult male. He’s his own person. That’s his INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY to live whatever way he chooses. Now if he tries to implement those views using the state as a mechanism to do so, he’s wrong and I oppose. I morally disagree with his life, but it’s NOT MY LIFE. We can’t WHINE about Neo Con Christian conservatives attempting to ban everything they disagree with and begin to replicate their tone. IDGAF what an adult does on their own time, when you bring children or govt force into it, you lose me. If Chase wants to pose with drag queens, that’s on Chase. Is he, as the Presidential nominee, going to focus on ending the fed and limiting government? Yes? Then cool. We ALL have work to do on the local and state level to promote the libertarian values WE know to be a benefit to our nation.
