At our current distance from the Sun, solar panels are all but useless – so we use something called radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs) for power.
Each spacecraft is equipped with three RTGs, and current power output is about 220 watts for V1 and 223 watts for V2.

ALT A Multi-Hundred Watt Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator (RTG) used on NASA's Voyager spacecraft. The cylindrical device is mounted vertically in a testing rig, with two dark-colored finned sections for heat dissipation and various wires and connectors attached. The RTG is shown indoors, in a clean lab environment with cables on the floor and industrial equipment in the background.

318 gigatons.
That’s how much ice is lost every year from Antarctica and Greenland’s ice sheets, according to new science from @NASA_Ice's #ICESat2. go.nasa.gov/3cb0bCC
But… how much ice is that, really? 🤔
RocketSTEM retweeted
Let's say 🧊= a gigaton of ice.
🧊 would be enough to cover NYC’s Central Park in ice past the top of the Chrysler Building. When melted, it would fill 400,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
Each year from 2003 to 2019, Greenland lost 200 🧊s. Antarctica lost 118 🧊s.

Riding a rocket to space actually uses up less fuel than a transatlantic passenger flight. Our Soyuz carries ~77t of Kerosene fuel, the rest is Oxygen. The trick is to burn it quickly: these engines spit out 20 Gigawatts - equiv to 10 large nuclear power stations - for 2 mins.
