We keep hearing about hocks being broken, at race tracks. Always the RIGHT hock. Greyhounds always race anticlockwise. It’s obvious that dogs running at speeds of up to 45mph and having to negotiate bends will be highly dangerous, especially for older dogs. #animalabuse

Why does V Thom keep running Icaal George? Poor dog has completed 152 runs and was in last place throughout the race, today 18/10/26. He is over 5 years old! Is Thom entering him just for the run money?

Shame on @abcnews among others for not even mentioning that a dog broke its leg on track during their ‘celebrations’ How @ChrisMinnsMP can justify spending taxpayer dollars propping up this shite is beyond comprehension.
Of course they had to break a greyhound's leg on the last night at Wentworth Park. Among the known injuries last night was a fractured right hock for Rosa Marie (in footage below). While they were all boozing and celebrating, Rosa Marie was at a vet clinic in pain.
90 days of incapacitation ahead. Unlikely they will kill her - wouldn't look good to have a dead dog on the record for closing night.
Can't see any mention of her serious injuries or any other injuries from last night in media reports. The public just gets fed filtered rubbish

Frequently these sort of incidents are caused by repetitive stress fractures, which are never seen in pet dogs. Stress fractures are a racing-only injury. A pet greyhound sprinting in a park twice a day never develops them. The injury pattern itself tells you the track schedule is the cause.
Despite there being fewer races and fewer operating racetracks, a greyhound was 77% more likely to die at the track, than when the industry introduced its welfare strategy in 2022. And what for? Human entertainment - gambling. Disgusting! #animalabuse @lisanandy @gambleawaregb
