And you think the greyhounds enjoyed it, particularly when they slow down? What do you think happened to them then? What did you do with your slow ones?
As a person who raced greyhounds for thirty years, I can definitely say it is not a money making exercise. An enjoyable hobby.

Sydney Morning Herald yesterday. Fully applicable in #politas of course. Please listen up @JoshWillie1 and @TasmanianLabor
Replying to @smh
@smh editorial 17 October 2026 nails it: “the greyhound racing industry has failed to live up to evolving social standards and is now shorthand for animal cruelty….There is no reason the greyhound racing industry should exist here…. It is exploitation masked as sport."

Absolutely. It’s not a ‘sport.’ It’s the cruel mistreatment of animals, many of them butchered when they have no further use.
Strong @SMH editorial arguing, rightly, that with last night's closure of Wentworth Park dogs after 90 years, it truly is time to get on with banning dog racing altogether as they have in so many other parts of the world. NSW is truly an outlier in still having it. #NSWpol

Shame on @abcnews among others for not even mentioning that a dog broke its leg on track during their ‘celebrations’ How @ChrisMinnsMP can justify spending taxpayer dollars propping up this shite is beyond comprehension.
Of course they had to break a greyhound's leg on the last night at Wentworth Park. Among the known injuries last night was a fractured right hock for Rosa Marie (in footage below). While they were all boozing and celebrating, Rosa Marie was at a vet clinic in pain. 90 days of incapacitation ahead. Unlikely they will kill her - wouldn't look good to have a dead dog on the record for closing night. Can't see any mention of her serious injuries or any other injuries from last night in media reports. The public just gets fed filtered rubbish Report: thedogs.com.au/attachments/e… Fasttrack: fasttrack.grv.org.au/Dog/Det… #bangreyhoundracing #wentworthpark

#politas An honourable mention for Tas as part of global reform wave in today’s SMH. Meanwhile, inexplicably @TasmanianLabor remains stubbornly attached to discredited, cruel, unpopular, outdated #GreyhoundRacing. Do better @JoshWillie1 🙏

So brave. Ukrainian rescuers never give up and risk their lives every day. They deserve our support. As does Ukraine itself.
Manya and Oleksandr are driving fast under anti-drone nets. They are evacuating animals from the frontline. Manya says, “Are we stressed and tired? Yes. Are the animals scared? Also yes. Will they get a chance for a better life soon? Yes”. And this is the reason why we keep going

NEW Episode is live! Josh Willie walks back 30% by Christmas. The Premier says he’s not going anywhere. And a new tax on data centres breaks the no new taxes promise. #politas

And they wonder why we’re all so cynical about politicians.
Minns Government’s new “Independent” Office of Animal Welfare subject to control and direction of Agriculture Minister “An independent office of animal welfare that is subject to the control and direction of the very Minister it is supposed to have independence from is nonsensical. It defeats the entire purpose of the office and doesn’t pass the pub test” - @JedGoodfellow @Alliance_AAFA allianceforanimals.org.au/ou…

Bulldozers are getting ready with just one more race meeting at Wentworth Park on Friday night. As "industry" people share their special WP memories over coming days, I will be doing the same. This one is from an ICAC report in 2000 Trainer of greyhounds for 36 years: "I had 'Injection' and maybe 'Time Shock'. They were both in the same night, at Wentworth Park." Had they been given something? - "Yes" What did you give them, do you recall? - "Like I said, amphetamines. And caffeine." #bangreyhoundracing #wentworthpark parliament.nsw.gov.au/parlia…

Progress in the general direction of kindness.. Slow. But always welcome.
Wonderful news overnight as the Mayor of New York announces an end to use of horse drawn carriages in central New York. This is a hugely cruel & exploitative business, that has resulted in the deaths of horses & people & it has no place in modern America. Well done Mr Mayor, PETA & everyone who has campaigned for so long for this cruelty to end @peta @NYCMayor

Another dead dog on the track. Tasmanian Labor supports this. The party finds these regular on and off-track deaths and injuries to gentle, sentient animals completely acceptable. #politas
#deadgreyhoundsaus Hobart Tasmania last night, Angry Mac fell after colliding with another greyhound. He suffered a right hind leg "injury" and was killed at the track. Clearly unsafe. The only way to stop the deaths and injuries is to stop racing greyhounds. He was used for racing 58 times, prizemoney $16,750, dead. If you were to teleport this noisy @TasmanianLabor figure back 120 years or so he’d likely be indignantly raging against women’s suffrage on identical ‘where will it all end’ grounds? Public sentiment has shifted and that’s that. #politas.

#politas @TasmanianLabor at it again. Reminder please re whose interests are being ‘prosecuted’ here? State’s biggest and most notorious dog racer or taxpayers and a proven big majority of Tasmanians who despise #GreyhoundRacing share.google/NeHHDIZQ73BGaP2…

#politas @Tasmanian Labor JSC rep at it again (effectively) barracking for millions of dollars in gov support to be locked in for horse racing, an activity in which he is a most enthusiastic personal participant. Could be time to cut his losses on ‘saving’ #GreyhoundRacing?

Never far from the headlines - in adverse ways - the state’s biggest dog racer. @TasmanianLabor #politas

This is what delay looks like. Not theory. Not politics. Not “heritage”. A dog on a track, injured & dead, while Parliament debates whether the industry should be given more time to reform itself. How many more times does this need to happen? 🤬
