Maybe controversial, but I disagree with SEOs comparing themselves to Lawyers and Accountants when people want to ask a "quick question".
Whether you like it or not, the lack of any sort of qualifications in SEO means anybody can start out as a "consultant" tomorrow, with nothing more than access to the Internet to provide their advice.
