i'm sure the ability to fabricate convincing historical footage that eventually drifts across the internet, where it's picked up by people who present them as real, at a time when trust in educational and media institutions is already eroding, will prove to be a net positive

Turns out that Flux 3 is exceptional at generating historical footage... like elementary school students in the '90s predicting how we'll use computers. (the last girl is my favorite!)

Many many years ago, I learnt Hebrew out of curiosity, and in a bid to penetrate into a world that I once thought was evil and conspiring against Arabs and Muslims. Once in, I was surprised how wrong I was, how wrong almost every Arab and Muslim around me was. These days, I watch Hebrew networks (and Arabic ones). There is a lot of Israeli pain over those who were killed on 10/7, agony of those who survived, and anxiety over those who are held hostage by Hamas. A lot of tears, now mixing with tears over fallen soldiers fighting in Gaza. The thing about all this Israeli pain is that it is almost exclusively in Hebrew. The world does not see Israelis hurt, does not hear them cry. The world sees Israel as fighter jets raining death to punish those who killed them from 15000 feet above ground. The world only sees and hears pain coming from Gaza, and the world always takes the side of the underdog, even when the underdog is guilty. One billion Muslims certainly have a much louder voice than 20 million Jews, and the world will always blame Israel, even when Palestinians started the carnage. And that's exactly why Israelis are fighting the fight of their lives. They understand that the world is an unfair place, and that they cannot rely on non-existent international justice or biased global opinion. I wish I had a magic wand to make fellow Arabs, and the rest of the world, see what I see. There will never be peace without justice, and using our numbers (Muslims) to impose our narrative is one way to try to beat Israel, but not the way to peace. My voice will dissent. I want peace, and peace is incumbent on winning the trust of those we want to live in peace with, not keeping on instigating the world against them.

So, is it Hassan Nasrallah, Ali Karaki or Abu Ali Rida who has been the deep cover Mossad agent for the last 40 years? I'm only asking questions...

Everyone who thinks AI will replace software engineers are: —VCs investing in those startups —Founders / employees of those startups —AI influencers who hype everything —People who wish they majored in CS —People who hate techbros Real SWEs are like "well.. it's kinda helpful".

OH from an LP: "The first thing I look at in a venture fund is who owns the management company. The higher the % employees at the firm who have a stake in the ManCo, the better. If you see a big fund with lots of people, but only 1-2 owners, run away as fast as you can"

The Norwegian government is killing their startup scene. The tax system was already bad enough for entrepreneurs, but now they’re taking it even further. If you leave the country having raised money for your startup, you’ll now have to pay an exit tax of >30% of your startup’s valuation - even if you never got a dollar out of the startup personally! Imagine a co-founder owning 30% of their $10m seed startup. They’d have to pay $1m+ in taxes if they leave the country. And it’ll only get worse as you raise later rounds. As a consequence, you’ll be kept hostage as a founder in Norway. It’s effectively becoming the Cuba of the Nordics. It’s especially sad given that Norway’s economy is extremely reliant on fossil fuels - and entrepreneurs are the only way to diversify the economy. The message here is clear: If you’re about to found a startup in Norway, make sure you move first.

You wanna know how silicon valley startups really work? I'll tell you. A founder/co-founders will start working on a startup while they're still working at a bigger company. They'll put together an MVP and socialize it within their group of friends who are other founders or leaders in other tech companies. The founder/co-founders will make a deal with their friends that they will use their products if they will sign up and "pay" for the MVP. You give me $5, i'll give you $5 kinda thing. Remember only revenue matters at this point. No one care about expenses. Founder/Co-founders now have 10-15 paying, referenceable customers (who are all their friends). They've gotten to $100k in ARR. Time to raise. They go to their friends who are GPs/partners at VC firms and raise a $7M seed round. They then hire a marketing team (1-2 people), more developers (from their old jobs) and maybe a sales person or two. Then they're of to the races with 10-15 logos for social proof, a few case studies, no real idea if they have PMF, but it doesn't matter because they can throw $7M at marketing and create buzz. Now compare that to someone who doesn't have a network.

Free idea: Immigration Ventures. Only value add is helping your co-founder get a visa. This fund would wildly outperform.
