Happy to see this reach a wider platform, but depressed by the comments, which misperceive this as a cash grab. My point, actually: When you buy the rights to a creative work, you don't buy authorship. You don't get to say that my ideas were your ideas. dailymail.com/tvshowbiz/arti…

#premiereleague matches on the $45 a month @StanSportFC now come with unskippable 4+ minute ads. Why would you keep testing people who are already not watching it live’s willingness to just move to other ways. You’re on such thin ice with fans and you don’t even see it. #cunts

You need to understand that the critics you’re responding to re bringing “AI” into digital film workflows, still think that you type “2 hour movie, Tom Cruise vs Brad Pitt, make it about something interesting”. They are creatively naive. Same people who ruined nft as distribution

This was a whole other kind of fucked up to read as an impressionable young man. I went from this to Bagley’s ASM374 Venom arc and became a huge fan.

“You made nothing.” I made everything. The script. Characters. Costumes. Props. Sets. Shots. Edit. VFX. ADR w real actors. A few X-buck grifters control the hive minds & somehow convinced them this is “like ordering from a menu & calling yourself a chef.” I'M THE RESTAURANT

They nearly got you. This is why they’re trying so hard to pinch the career of anyone in generative AI before they reach rotation speed on the runway. They know you will fly too high and too far to ever stop once people see your work.

I enjoy your naïveté that you think someone just pressed a button a bunch of times, and this eventually came out. Every frame of this has been expertly crafted and you can’t even see it past your own literal and actual example of Luddite bias.

🔥🚨DEVELOPING: This song titled “Mace Fell Out of a Windu” has been going viral and created a discussion among entertainment fans on how ‘good AI’ is starting to become accepted after Star Wars fans instantly started sharing the track.

The weirdest part of the generative AI backlash is where the moral pressure lands. An independent author uses AI for a book cover and gets treated like he betrayed the arts. Meanwhile major brands, studios and agencies are quietly integrating the same tools because they save time and money. The people with the least leverage are being asked to perform the most purity. That seems backwards.

My goal was to use AI art only until I could afford "real artists". But after seeing the hateful way these "artists" treat other people due to their AI use? I lost all interest. I may not sell a single game, but I will never work with one of these meatbags, like ever!

This is a 100% true story. Retold with 100% AI. For everyone I've told it to before, I hope it lives up to whatever madness you had playing in your head.

Artists are not entitled to people's money. If people buy less non-AI art because they can get what they want more cheaply with AI, good—people should buy the art they actually want. Human beings don't exist to fund aspiring artists. If artists want people's money, they need to make things some people will value. If they don't want to do that, they need to accept the outcome of their own choice. Anti-capitalism will tell you it's oppressive that every random person can't be a well-paid artist simply because they want to. Meanwhile, there have never been more amateur artists making good money via the free market because of Patreon, sponsorships, and ad revenue.
The backlash against AI art isn't really about whether machines should or shouldn't make art. It's that the humans making art are being priced out of their own livelihoods. If artists could afford to keep creating without selling their work, without commodifying their creative labor and competing with AI on cost of production, a lot of the outrage would dissipate. Commoditization is a cost-structure problem. Human art is expensive to produce: years of training, hours per piece, materials, rent. AI produces a plausible substitute at near-zero marginal cost. Once creative output becomes a commodity, buyers compare on price, and human work can't win that comparison. No matter how many clichés there are about rich kids striving to be artists, all they really show is how incompatible art is with capitalism. The trust-fund artist is what art looks like when it doesn't have to pay for itself.

At first we were all willing to banter with @DHughesy because we suspected he might have a drug or mental problem causing him to risk his reputation, it was just a bit of fun. But as his rhetoric has become more coherent and logical with cited facts, feels like time to disengage.
