This is a review from an @ADT customer whose contract has expired and he’s still being charged.
The termination fee is a penalty for customer loyalty, it covers no damages, no services, or compensation for termination. It’s a means of deterrence only.

Day 51: After yesterday’s post revealing @ADT’s real position, nothing but silence. No surprise, they are standing firm. I’m resilient, I can wait it out.
My next move will be to ensure that the 30-day test mode setting they set (without asking) lapses before disabling the rest of the system.

Day 50: @ADT responded to my post yesterday. If this helps them, here’s how they responded last time:
“Hello, thank you for reaching out to ADT’s Social Media Team. We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this situation must feel. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment this has caused.
We always strive to be transparent, which is why the terms and conditions—including details regarding cancellation fees—are outlined at the beginning of the agreement. As noted there, cancellation of the service does result in a cancellation fee.
That said, we genuinely regret that this outcome is not what you hoped for, and we understand how upsetting this may be.
If there’s anything further we can review or assist you with, please let us know.”
Do you really want to help? Change your cancellation policy, and let me walk away with ZERO further payments, ZERO further financial obligations to you. To be transparent - the Social Media Team has no real power to do anything.
After 10 years, to be roped into a new 3-year contract for UPGRADING my system seems to be a misrepresentation of your services.
I paid for my equipment.
You did not deliver on the upgrade request - only partially. So my contract was not fully executed.
I paid for my service(s) at multiple addresses for over 10 years - never missing a payment.
I upgraded my services - twice.
I am a loyal consumer - and I’ve never had an incident.
You rewarded me by luring me into a false sense of security.
You made a private matter public by mistreating me - and by the responses many, many others. I will continue to post every day until my contract is canceled without any “cancellation fee”.

Day 25: today is now the 6th business day of the “3-5 Business Day” commitment to ship installation kits, and yet still no kits! The kits have no been ordered 3x since early June.
@ADT continues to fail when it comes to customer service. My alarm is still disabled, almost a full month since the sensors were removed. #ADT can breach their commitments, but if I want out of my contract I have to pay.
#ADTFailures have me compromised in my own home, my security, and my safety.

Day 23: Why @ADT has failed me:
1. I paid for my system, and paid it off early. Twice.
2. I paid for services, never missing a payment. 10+ years.
3. I wanted to add services, and I was unknowingly locked into a new contract weeks before any upgrades were installed.
4. Not all upgrades were completed as contractually agreed to - that’s a failure to execute said contract.
5. I asked out for their failure to protect my home - if I want out I have to pay for 75% of a contract.
My system is still disabled for their failures.
That’s bad business,
that’s poor customer service,
and that’s disloyal to you the consumer.

Day 15: Yesterday was business day 10, the last day my reinstallation kits could arrive and @ADT would meet their contractual commitment to me.
They did not arrive, as I expected they would not arrive. This is the second 10 day contractual commitment missed.

True Freedom is Here
Everyone thinks about freedom differently. Most people would say freedom is a virtue that should be sought, but that idea changes depending on how it’s defined.
A lot of people think freedom is the absence of restraints. We are truly free when we are free from things that hold us back. Others define freedom by our human will—if we can choose what we want, then we can be free.
These ideas are a bit different from what we find in Scripture. According to God’s Word, freedom is found wherever God is found. Freedom is found when we live according to God’s original design for our life.
When we begin our life with Jesus, He gives us a new heart and way to live. He also sends the Spirit of God to live within us. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 3:17 that wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is true freedom. That means all of us who believe in Jesus have access to this freedom.
Freedom doesn’t come from doing whatever we want, but from living according to the Spirit of God who lives within us.
Paul goes on to say that those of us who belong to the Lord should spend time in God’s presence. It’s only when we sit with God daily that we are transformed by Him.
Through God’s Word and talking with Him, we have access to true life transformation and true freedom.
Can you identify one or two things that are holding you back from living this way?
It may be an unresolved conflict or a recurring sin. Whatever it is, spend some time with God today—asking for forgiveness and seeking out your next steps.
Spend time in His presence through prayer and reading Scripture. Your life will be transformed if you continue to spend time with the One who can thoroughly change you.

Just a word of advice from a 10-year customer, if you are considering a security system, @ADT has the worst customer service. No accountability at all.
My advice is to find another security provider. I am considering @SimpliSafe or @Xfinity for our new security system.
