Winston Cup Scene was, in my opinion, the preeminent NASCAR publication of its day and @stevewaid’s column was the cornerstone of its greatness.
Beyond his Hall of Fame talent as a journalist, he was a gentleman who always had a smile on is face every time I was around him.

He was 77.

Steve Waid was one of the last of our generations journalists. If his name was penned as the writer then you knew that the story was 100% factual. Plus it was a joy just reading his stuff. No doubt he helped move @NASCAR forward. RIP ole buddy
