From what I’m told you could also (allegedly) include “attending second job in London”.
But I’m sure that can’t be true…

My reply was very much ‘tongue in cheek’ 🤣
Seems that lots of things are more important than attending the States:
• Shopping 🛒
• Having a coffee ☕️
• Having a fag 🚬
• Having a pint 🍺
• Being at home by 4pm for Tipping Point & The Chase
Here’s a Spanish headline for you relating to a town of fewer than 100,000 run by 25 elected councillors.
Where would you spend the ~£300,000 a year such a move would liberate here in Guernsey?
You raise a much wider point.
Can any system, structured or not, work in Guernsey context where competence isn't criteria for election and island-wide means voters have little to no chance of understanding candidates or their capabilities or motivations?

You could vote to delegate more powers to P&R in particular areas or authorise it to overrule cttees where silos get in the way of sensible development like East Coast Development?
Excellent promo for the Channel Islands – win the weight of your baby in Bean Jar* (Guernsey) or Bean Crock* (Jersey)
*Other popular local specialities available 🙂
Is this implying that P&R hasn't been monitoring senior appointments?
And v odd development since Bill Bell was doing just this when he was a committee president up to (I think) 2008.
Looking at the massive push-back from States departments to even the modest cost savings they’ve already endorsed, you have to ask why nothing ever changes.
Here’s my explanation in today’s @GuernseyPress - and it’s all down to a chap called Pournelle…
This is classic States playbook stuff - “cuts” immediately transferred to users. The organisation remains untouched, unchanged and as costly as before the “economies”.
Odd that we’re “tax havens” but the biggest beneficiary - Ireland, with an expected annual €3.5bn increase in corporation tax revenue from Pillar Two - somehow isn’t.
Guernsey, Jersey and other havens rake in revenues from global minimum tax ft.trib.al/Y88TfY5
Nice initiative that seems poised to take off

Remind me, why did we dump tried and tested CT Plus – on April the First I note – for this new, underperforming operator @Govgg ?
Deputy Helyar completely correct of course in today’s @GuernseyPress
A couple of headlines today reinforcing @AlexSnowdon5’s fears over @States_Alderney’s pie-in-the-sky data centre ambitions?
Only 35% of such plans credible says @FT report.
Talking of statistics, here's an interesting chart from Marcus Cicero showing how buying a house has moved out of reach for so many islanders.
Methodology and caveats from him here:

Today's @GuernseyPress headline is hardly a surprise but it demonstrates States members' detachment from the pressures facing island families after a decade+ of falling real incomes and rocketing housing costs.
Where's the extra tax coming from?
Replying to @AlexSnowdon5
@AlexSnowdon5 certainly puts himself through it in questioning Alderney’s data centre ambitions.

Still at it!
Putting aside his method, the questions posed by the data centre are considerable and serious.
Especially the allegations of Guernsey collusion.
