However shocking the tv expose on NHS A&E care was, it's nothing compared to the statement released by NHS
Everyone who works in A&E knows what was exposed is the devastating reality repeated up and down the country.
Key NHS national decision makers are either lying because of political pressure or even worse do not see the reality because of the disconnect from nhs board to the a&e floor
For things to change nhs leaders need to own the awful reality rather than gas light us all.
That the only way in the future, we can provide the care our patients deserve

Yes, sepsis can be HARD to spot, especially in the early stages, but if the department is crowded it gets a whole lot harder. This gem of a paper builds on the leading cause of Coroners publishing PFD reports (Spoiler it is DELAY) emj.bmj.com/content/41/3/184
30 deaths linked to 'systemic' failings in sepsis care
Major progress was made on sepsis in 2010s, but investigation by @emilyltownsend finds thats been significantly reversed amid repeated failures in recognising & treating condition

I’ve been on-call for General Medicine & been in ED today. Between the surging Covid cases, multi-morbidity & failed discharges - I have felt largely useless in making any meaningful difference in flow.
I really feel for ED colleagues - an uphill battle every day. #NHSisBroken

Best Hospitals 2021 - United Kingdom. Proud that the RVI is consistently in the UKs top 3 and worlds top 100. For a major city centre workhorse this is quite amazing. Most plaudits and rewards favour specialist institutions but we’ll take this one newsweek.com/best-hospitals-…

So here’s a plea.
No more ‘standard’, ‘full’ & ‘enhanced’ PPE
PPE matches the route of transmission
- contact precautions
- droplet precautions
- airborne precautions
Use of this language would cut through a lot of confusion.

Our Clinical Team of the Year is the Emergency Department who despite growing demand & service pressures introduced a range of improvement projects to improve patient care & flow. They worked tirelessly to meet the 4-hour access target in-year, just 1 of a small number nationally
