The old Coliseum still stands, but with the nearby horse race track now torn down, time is appearing shorter and shorter for our grand old hockey barn... 💔

Wayne Gretzky was the last (and only) NHL player to reach 200 points in a season.

Only fans in one NHL city have witnessed a player produce a 200 point season. Edmonton. Wayne Gretzky did it four times. If Connor McDavid continues putting up multi point games it’ll become THE focus of the season.
Most view Gretzky's 200 pt yrs as the tip of the iceberg.
If you watched him play, you could argue, his all around game was at its best from '86-'87, the Canada Cup & '87-'88.
IMO, we're seeing something similar from McDavid. Reaching another level later in his career #Oilers

Oilers - Red Wings tonight, following Mr. Belvedere on ITV. The story of the day is whether Esa Tikkanen is finally the LW for Gretzky-Kurri, or is it another mirage. Tik has 4G in 4 GP. Oilers get their first look at #1 pick Joe Murphy, and Jeff Beukeboom will get his 1st game.
Connor McDavid has officially played his 800th career NHL game 🏒
Here's how McDavid and Wayne Gretzky compare through their first 800 career games 🤯
The Oilers really drafted TWO generational talents!

OTD 1983: The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Calgary Flames 4–3 in the first NHL game played at the new Olympic Saddledome. Jari Kurri, Glenn Anderson, Wayne Gretzky, and Ken Linseman scored for Edmonton, while Lanny McDonald, Dave Hindmarch, and Doug Risebrough tallied for Calgary. Ken Linseman stirred up the crowd by instigating several altercations that drew key Oilers power plays. Flames coach Bob Johnson remarked on Linesman after the game, "He was out there, chirping away like his does. How did he get away with only one penalty?" (source: Calgary Herald 1983)
