Not often I get to play with the current world champions!! Thanks to @TheBoghall for opening the #ECFS2024
Send in the band… #ECFS2024
And if you look carefully you’ll spot @ResearchGray…
Setting the standard for future conference openings…..Speakers in the band…
Such an important initiative being launched on such an important day #WorldSepsisDay Well done @stopsepsisnow @LindAlliance
On #WorldSepsisDay we are proud to launch a huge new project - a survey to shape the future of #sepsis research in conjunction with the @LindAlliance

And just like that 19 years of working in Edinburgh and @EdinburghUni comes to and end. Looking forward to many more years of collaboration with my great friends @EdinUni_CIR and excited to move on to the next chapter with @UofGlasgow
science.org/doi/10.1126/scia… new paper from @JonathanGillan_ CF macrophages have specific defects that are directly related to CF mutations and can be corrected by CFTR modulators. Amazing #teamscience effort @EdinUni_MeetCIR @roslininstitute @EdinburghCRF @RiceUniversity
Jonny was supported by our amazing collaborators @kennethbaillie @dr_sara_c @SeqNinja Mithil Chokshi and Gang Bao. And not to forget our brilliant teammate @djdavidsonlab who co-supervised Jonny.
Delighted to share some #teamscience. Chemistry and Medicine joining forces to probe the micorenviroment in respiratory organoids. Lots of potential for use in future studies and drug discovery. Well done Will Skinner!! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3681…
Much has been achieved in CF research and treatment over the past decade but the work goes on to find therapies that will improve the lives of everyone living with CF. Great team effort here (led by @janedaviescf) highlighting the priorities for the next decade. Onwards team CF!!
Perspective article “Future Therapies for Cystic Fibrosis” published today in @NatureComms (Open access)! Here we look to the future of cystic fibrosis therapies and consider priorities for future research and development. rdcu.be/c5chV
Our Cystic Fibrosis Lung Repair research group is looking for a new postdoctoral fellow to work on innovative epithelial cell injury models. Please contact if interested or better still apply! elxw.fa.em3.oraclecloud.com/…
Want to see what amazing science driven by a pressing clinical need for treatments looks like? Well check this out!! Brilliant work from @Anandamirch and team
I am humbled and delighted to share our most recent paper in @NatImmunol showing how hypoxemia (and consequent tissue hypoxia) alters innate immune responses in the lung in acute lung injury (ALI)/ ARDS rdcu.be/cOsSM. Summary of 6 years' worth of work @EdUni_MeetCIR 👇

Big shout out to the @cftrust. Their support of clinical trials infrastructure in the UK has enabled many centres like ours to give people with CF the chance to access trials of potentially life changing medications. Happy #InternationalClinicalTrialsDay to all!!
Today is #InternationalClinicalTrialsDay! We'll be sharing lots throughout the day to celebrate!

Out at 4pm today: our latest paper from GenOMICC reveals 16 new, robust genetic associations with critical Covid-19, some of which might lead directly to effective new treatments, just like our study in 2020 did. 1/n

Brilliant work @kennethbaillie and team. From genomics to a successful targeted treatment in RECOVERY at lightening speed. Science at its best.
A Christmas message from the founder of @stopsepsisnow Sepsis Research (FEAT). Happy Holidays!!
Please have a look at the sepsis research advent calendar and see all the great work people have done for sepsis research this year raising funds and awareness and facilitating world class research.
We are lucky enough at Sepsis Research FEAT to count Santa amongst our board of esteemed trustees.
This year he visited the home of trustee Dr Robert Gray.
Thanks Santa!

Great 4 year PhD opportunity to come and work with @ResearchGray and @ColinCa57082954 to develop innovative ex vivo models of lung damage and repair. findaphd.com/phds/project/ea…
Check out our new paper where we show why a commonly used CF mouse the lacks the inflammatory macrophage phenotype seen in people with CF. An important observation for anyone working in CF inflammation. Great work from @JonathanGillan_

1/2 Congratulations @JonathanGillan_ passing his PhD viva today with minor corrections. Due to Jonny’s hard work we know a lot more about CF macrophages than we did before! Thanks to examiners @prakramacha and Katie Hisert, and @Gwotzerho for chairing.
Many thanks to @djdavidsonlab who was Jonny’s brilliant second supervisor and also @kennethbaillie and @dr_sara_c for hosting and supporting Jonny with his foray into the land of CAGE! A great team effort.
