Good news! We are reopening N.C. 12 on Ocracoke. Thanks to Mother Nature and the hard work of our crews, we can now reopen this critical transportation lifeline. As a result, we are also able to resume a limited ferry schedule between Hatteras and Ocracoke.bit.ly/3Tsog2r

OBX UPDATE: @NCDOT is activating an emergency ferry service between Stumpy Point and Rodanthe, reconnecting Hatteras Island and the North Carolina mainland while a section of @NCDOT_NC12 remains closed.
Ferries traveling from Stumpy Point to Rodanthe will operate under a priority system established by Dare County to help move people and essential goods and services to and from Hatteras Island. Stay tuned for an update from NCDOT and local partners tomorrow on ferry schedule and service details.
This morning NCDOT began using ferries to carry road equipment onto Ocracoke and has started clearing sand so the road can be reopened as soon as possible.
As a reminder, Pamlico Sound routes (Ocracoke-Cedar Island & Ocracoke-Swan Quarter) are running to take people from the village to the mainland.
I am grateful to all of the emergency responders who are working hard to keep folks safe.

This morning on Capitol Hill, With Honor Action joined @BipartisanVets Co-Chair @RepDonDavis, caucus member @RepTomBarrett, @RepGusBilirakis, and @GruntStyleFdn to call on Congress to act on the bipartisan Written Informed Consent Act.
The bill ensures the VA provides clear, written disclosure of risks before prescribing high-risk medications, giving veterans the information they need to make informed decisions and advocate for their care. Our veterans deserve full transparency, stronger safeguards, and the ability to take control of their own health decisions.
