Here’s the real question: Why don’t you turn on Starlink over Russia so the Ukrainians can take out Russian ballistic missile launchers? One small action and you immediately save children from dying every day. Refusing to do so is like watching your friend die while you hold his EpiPen over him. It’s that simple.

Affordability is about more than numbers on a chart. It is about whether working families can buy a home, educate their children, pay for health insurance and retire without fear.
@RepBrianFitz and @RepTomSuozzi join @CatoInstitute to lay out the standard policymakers should be working toward.

The U.S. should honor Senator Graham by passing his final piece of legislation, the Russia sanctions bill, to help bring this war to an end

Just a day ago, Lindsey Graham announced in Kyiv that he had reached an agreement with Trump to pass the Russia sanctions bill that would make it possible for Trump to impose sanctions on third-countries buying Russian oil:
GRAHAM:
“We've reached an agreement with the White House on a version of the Russian sanctions bill that they will support. It means it's going to become law.
So, when I get back to Washington, I'm going to go with Senator Blumenthal to the Republican and Democratic leaders to see if we can find time to move this Russian sanctions package that would give tools to President Trump to help end this war.
There are some things we can do on the technology front to build on the lethality of Ukraine to protect itself from ballistic missile attack.
If we did that, combined with creating tools to punish those countries that prop up Putin and make money off this war, then I think we've got the best chance since I've been coming here in the last five years to get Putin to the peace table”

The most remarkable story of redemption I came across in my years writing Courage Can Save US.
“If I put on one hand the people I care most about in this world,” ex-convict, former NY State Assemblyman, and onetime prospective candidate for Mayor of NYC Brian McLaughlin told me early one morning in 2025 at a Starbucks in Manhattan. It had been nearly 19 years since then Special Agent Brian Fitzpatrick put McLaughlin behind bars, ending his political career and beginning a chapter of covert cooperation with the FBI that would eventually help bring down Sheldon Silver, the powerful Speaker of the New York State Assembly, and scores of others across organized crime and politics. “There’s my mutha, my fatha, my brutha, my kids, and there’s Brian Fitzpatrick.”
Nearly twenty years ago, Brian McLaughlin and I met under circumstances neither of us could have imagined would one day lead to friendship.
I was a young FBI Special Agent in New York City, working my first field assignment. Brian was the Subject of the FBI public corruption case I was assigned to investigate. He was ultimately arrested, convicted, and sentenced to ten years in prison.
That is where many people would have ended the story.
But our country, at its best, has always believed in something larger than a person’s worst chapter. It believes in accountability, but also in redemption. It believes in consequences, but also in grace. It believes that lives can be rebuilt when truth is faced with courage.
Last night, I had the honor of sitting down with Brian—now my friend, and someone who attended my wedding just last weekend—to tell that story together.
Brian has said that I changed his life. The truth is, he changed mine, too.
Thank you to my friend, @WithHonorAction Founder @ryebarcott , for profiling me in your inspiring new book.
Courage can, in fact, save us.

When both sides choose to work together, big things can get done.
Tonight, the House passed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act with overwhelming bipartisan support, advancing a bicameral effort to address one of the biggest challenges facing American families: housing affordability.
Addressing our toughest challenges requires collaboration, and tonight’s vote is a strong example of what that can achieve.

SUNDAY: We’ll be joined by Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and Tom Suozzi (D-NY), the co-chairs of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, to discuss whether Congress can find common ground on the issues facing Americans. Tune in at 10:30 am ET.
Bravo to @RepBrianFitz and @RepTomSuozzi for taking on the gerrymandering scourge with a federal solution. Extracting the poison of partisan election rules is what the @ProbSolveCaucus is about.

For months, @RepDonBacon and @RepBrianFitz have worked together to hold Russia accountable through tough sanctions that cripple its ability to continue waging war on Ukraine.
Today, that effort gained enough support to force a vote in the U.S. House.

.@RepBrianFitz: "Could you expand on the agency's efforts to further address microplastics and PFAS contaminants in our food and water?"
@SecKennedy: "We're putting $140 million into the STOMP program…The average American now has a teaspoon of microplastics in his brain."

Fitzpatrick and Suozzi talking now about their bill.
Fitzpatrick notes that not a single bill the House or Senate have considered both fully fund DHS and significantly reform ICE. This bill does that, he says.
NEW -- N.Y. Democratic Rep. TOM SUOZZI and Pa. GOP Rep. BRIAN FITZPATRICK have a new bill out in the likely scenario Senate rejects the House's 60-day CR.
Bill would fund all of DHS and would:
-mandate body cameras
- require ID for DHS personnel
- ban masks
- increase penalties for doxxing agents
- mandate "independent investigations" for DHS shootings
- standardize training
- limit detention of US citizens
- institute warrant requirements for criminal arrests
- prioritize detention of immigrants who "pose a threat to public safety."
Another discharge petition likely coming here....

News from AM: Reps. FITZPATRICK & SUOZZI planning to intro a bipartisan proposal to end the DHS shutdown
Full funding at previously agreed upon levels + ICE reforms including on body cameras, training, entering sensitive locations, on-officer identification & independent investigations
It would prevent ICE agents from wearing masks but also crack down on doxxing & would require judicial warrants for criminal arrests - attempting compromise on key sticking points in talks
