He’s now forced to campaign against a man in a bin on his head, while Labour, Tories, Lib Dems and Greens all refused to play along, which has turned his hoped-for media circus into a low-wattage sideshow.
The parliamentary investigations into the undeclared £5m gift don’t vanish just because he called a vanity by-election; facts aren’t reset by some voter applause.
