You're aboard the Enterprise setting a trap for the traitor in your ranks. Join the stakeout!
Second Mission: The Delivery (Part 3.1 - The Stakeout) #Amalgaverse
Captain’s Log , supplemental: Mr. Scott has repaired the warp coils, and the Enterprise is back at full warp. We’re behind schedule but still within the window for delivery. Our passengers have been told we’re out of danger. That isn’t entirely true. Logs recovered from the cruiser’s utility drone confirm that its engines were deliberately sabotaged, and whoever did it is now a guest aboard my ship. Tonight we’ve set a trap, with the drone as bait. If our saboteur wants to keep their secret, they’ll have to come for him. And we’ll be waiting.
Kirk has reassured his guests that the repairs are complete and the delivery is on schedule. He adds, in passing, that Carter and Data are working on Dunsel. Curiously, the drone’s memory stores were wiped, but they’re confident they can fully restore them by morning.
Dunsel is parked in the science lab for the night, apparently unguarded. In reality, crew members are lying in wait while others monitor the lab on a hidden feed.
Hours pass. Nobody comes. Internal sensors show all four guests in their quarters the entire night.
Then, the warp core goes offline. The Enterprise drops out of warp and the ship goes dark except for emergency lighting and life support.
Scotty reports that the core is intact, but something has knocked it out, and he can’t tell what. On the bridge, Data picks up a subspace signal coming from somewhere inside the ship: a beacon, broadcasting the Enterprise’s position. Then long-range sensors show a ship approaching at high warp.
The trap was set for the mole, but the mole had other plans.
The mystery ship will arrive in minutes, and there aren’t enough hands to do everything.
What do you do?
A) Locate the beacon. Silence it before the mystery ship can lock on to the Enterprise’s position. It’s somewhere aboard, and the search will pull crew away from defending the ship.
B) Prepare to repel boarders. Place armed teams at key points and a guard on Zax. The ship will be ready for a fight, but the beacon keeps transmitting its signal.
C) Hit them first. Load a strike team onto the puddle jumper and board the mystery ship before its crew can board yours. It could end the threat before it starts, but it sends your best fighters off the Enterprise, leaving you at a clear disadvantage if you are boarded.

Second Mission: The Delivery (Part 2.5 – Persons of Interest) #Amalgaverse
With all hands sheltered in the shielded core, the baryon sweep rolls across the Enterprise, a red glow moving section by section from the nacelles to the engineering hull, then finally up and over the saucer. The subspace organisms burn and flake away into space, and the hull comes up clean.
But the sweep has scorched the warp coils. “Cooked,”says Scotty, “like a Burns Night haggis.” He starts repairs while the Enterprise limps on through the corridor at reduced warp. The margin on Zax’s delivery is shrinking by the hour.
With the ship out of danger for the moment, the crew turns its attention to the passengers.
Thor volunteers to ask Zax what makes him worth all this trouble. Zax is delighted to tell him, launching into a series of personal reflections that provide absolutely no insight into his current circumstances but paint an excruciatingly detailed portrait of his childhood on Rigel and his strong opinions on Andorian theater. Two hours in, Thor raises a hand and says: “Stop talking.” Zax falls silent, mid-sentence. “Thank you,”says Thor. He leaves, later reporting: “I learned nothing. Except that Andorian theater is apparently very derivative.”
Aeryn Sun takes a seat across from Lucinda in Ten Forward and attempts to engage her in conversation. But Lucinda neither confirms nor denies anything, and politely turns every question back on Aeryn.
“She never sits with her back to the door,”notes Aeryn, “and always keeps her right hand free. Clocks anyone who comes within three metras of her. She’s ex-military. I’d know.”
Daniel shares a meal with Milo, expecting small talk, and ends up deep in a debate about the Ancients.
“He made a couple of great points about ascension I’d never even considered,”marvels Daniel. “And I’ve actually ascended!”
G’Kar, no stranger to diplomats, finds Robespierre happy to discuss his distinguished career, including the three promotions he was unfairly denied. Every question about the mission, however, meets a polite and immovable wall.
“He reminds me of a Centauri I know,”says G’Kar. “All smiles, and a vault of secrets behind them.”
Then Carter calls you to engineering. She and Data have been piecing together data recovered from Dunsel, who trundles nearby, cheerfully greeting the same wall panel for the third time.
When the cruiser’s engines failed, Dunsel apparently ran a diagnostic and logged his findings before anyone could stop him. The failure was no accident. Someone sabotaged the engines and forced the cruiser out of warp, which is how the mercs knew exactly where to find it. Then they tried to bury the evidence by wiping Dunsel’s memory stores. The wipe damaged his neural network, which explains his odd behavior.
Someone aboard that cruiser sabotaged their own ship. And that someone is now aboard the Enterprise.
What do you do first?
A) Search the guest quarters. Fast and direct, but a careful mole will have hidden anything worth finding, and you’ll have tipped your hand. Also, a diplomat’s quarters are off limits, and Robespierre will make sure Starfleet hears about it.
B) Request background checks from Starfleet Command. They’ll be thorough but slow, and the answers may not arrive before the delivery.
C) Surreptitiously question them about their whereabouts in the hour the cruiser was sabotaged, but don't tip your hand.
D) Confront them. Gather all four passengers, announce there’s a saboteur among them, and watch how each one reacts. It might shake something loose, or it might drive the mole to ground.
E) Use Dunsel as bait. Let word slip that his memory can be fully restored, and watch who comes for him. It could catch the mole in the act, but Dunsel may not survive a second attempt.

To whom it may concern;
With regards to Sir Patrick Stewart, or any other person or thing I have feelings about.
I will have those feelings. If I choose to mourn the loss of Sir Patrick Stewart, despite being his near political opposite, I damn well will do so. I don't give a fuck who you are. You don't get to tell me what I'm allowed to feel.
In fact, you don't get to tell me anything.
In closing, Get Fucked.

Second Mission: The Delivery (Part 2.4 – Hitchhikers) #Amalgaverse
Garak enters the briefing room carrying two cups of tea, Early Grey, hot, and takes a seat across from its sole other occupant, Algernon. Garak smiles amiably and notes: “Forgive me, I’m a tailor by trade and can’t help but notice. That armor is magnificent. Hand-riveted and fitted to the man. I do admire a gentleman of refinement, especially one who’s had to make his way in a rough trade.”
“Kind of you to say,”replies the burly merc. “It has served me well in my travails through the Hadrion Sector.” Then, dropping the pleasantries: “If you’re here to repeat the Captain’s terms, I’m afraid my answer hasn’t changed.”
“Oh, I’m not here on the Captain’s behalf,”Garak informs him. “I’m here on yours. Your employer will, no doubt, soon be wondering what you’ve told us.”
Algernon is unfazed by the subtle threat: “Men in our trade are arrested every other week, old chap. Starfleet can announce we’ve sung like Vaborian string birds, and no one worth fearing will believe a word of it.”
“From Starfleet, certainly not,”agrees Garak. Then, leaning in conspiratorially: “But scurrilous rumors of that sort have a way of finding the whisper network of underground back channels. THOSE command the proper attention.”
Algernon’s eyes narrow: “And you claim to have such contacts?”
Garak throws his hands up in mock surrender and sits back, all smiles. “Of course not. I’m just plain, simple Garak. A humble tailor.”
Algernon relaxes. A beat.
Then Garak, as if struck by a thought: “Speaking of which, when you inevitably make your way back to the Hadrion Sector, give my regards to Glaxnor the Miscreant.”
Algernon shifts uncomfortably in his tiny chair. “Glaxnor? You know Glaxnor?”
“Only professionally. I made him a coat of Betazoid silk last season. He was thrilled with the results.” A knowing smile. “Please, do tell him I asked after him.”
Algernon considers. Then talks. He reveals that he and Mira were hired through a faceless go-between, but the payment came from a Klingon Great House. He lowers his voice: “Our employer was most insistent that this Harven Zax be taken alive. He’s carrying something of theirs, you see. A secret worth a war. And before they kill him, they mean to learn who else he’s shared it with.”
He adds that they were given the coordinates of the cruiser transporting Zax, only to drop out of warp far too close to a black hole, which is where the Enterprise found them. Garak finds this odd. The cruiser’s engines failed without warning. So how did anyone know where to find it?
Meanwhile, on the bridge, Kirk is awaiting an update from Garak when, suddenly, the ship shudders. Scotty flags an energy drain which Data traces to the nacelles.
Data uses the hull sensors to build a composite image of the ship’s exterior, revealing:
Both nacelles crusted with glittering green growth, creeping down the pylons and across the engineering hull, climbing the neck towards the saucer. Whatever it is, it’s alive. And growing.
Data finds a match in an old Vulcan survey entry: subspace organisms that feed on warp fields.
Unfortunately, the entry offers no solution. The survey crew documented the infestation as it consumed their ship, but never found a way to stop it. Their log was recovered by a salvage crew that found the ship adrift and drained of all power, the organisms long gone.
How do you deal with them?
A) Starve them. Drop out of warp and let the nacelles go cold. It will cost hours the Enterprise can’t spare, and nobody knows how long these things can last without feeding.
B) Burn them off. Rig the ship to hit her own nacelles with a baryon sweep. It could strip them clean, but the sweep might also damage the warp coils the ship needs to deliver Zax on time.
C) Flush them off. Vent warp plasma through the nacelles and blast them loose. The ship will lose plasma it needs to stay at speed, and the trail it leaves will lead anyone hunting Zax straight to the Enterprise.

Second Mission: The Delivery (Part 2.3 – The Mercs) #Amalgaverse
The Enterprise is en route through the Klingon corridor, bound for the rendezvous. While Data works on Dunsel down in engineering, you check in on your two other guests.
In the briefing room, under guard, sit the two mercs you rescued from the black hole’s event horizon.
As you settle in, Mira, the wild-eyed old pirate, twitches in her chair, pounds the table and launches into something only barely resembling language: “Aaaar! Ye frontin’ tall, but lemme ‘splain. Ye bet yer vee we gunnin’ fer a tract, lest we go no talk-talk!”
Beside her, her hulking partner, Algernon, speaks up, in a deep, cultured voice nobody expected: “Do forgive my associate. Her command of the language is, shall we say, impressionistic. What she is endeavoring to convey is that we should be delighted to arrive at some mutually agreeable arrangement. A quid pro quo, if you will: the information you so clearly desire in exchange for our liberty.”
What do you do?
A) Make the deal. Let them go free at the next port and get your answers now, trusting that the information is worth it.
B) Refuse the deal. Send them back to the brig to think about it, then hand them over to the authorities at the rendezvous if they still haven’t cooperated.
C) Send in Garak. Let him have a quiet word with them. He may get the truth without a bargain, but there’s no telling what methods he’ll use or what it might cost you with Kirk.

Second Mission: The Delivery (Part 2.2 – Close Quarters) #Amalgaverse
Who is Harven Zax and why does someone want him so badly? The orders don't say. The Enterprise is on her way, and Starfleet’s orders remain thin: deliver Harven Zax to a set of coordinates on the far side of the Expanse before the deadline and hand him over to whoever is waiting there. The orders don’t say who.
With time to kill, the crew gets its first real look at their guests.
Harven Zax holds court in Ten Forward, regaling all with dubious tales of his own daring. None of the dates or places in his stories quite line up, and he seems confident no one will notice.
Lucinda Shockley, his bodyguard, has a deadpan wit and the air of someone you do not want to cross. She shadows Zax, yet her eyes keep drifting to his young protégé, Milo. Unrequited love, perhaps?
Milo, for his part, keeps to the edges at first. Once he opens up, however, he turns out to be quite knowledgeable about the border sector’s tangled history. A true nerd.
Oswin Robespierre has clearly never waited for anything in his life and is handling the novelty badly. He complains about his quarters and keeps a sealed diplomatic pouch close at hand, refusing every offer to lock it in the ship’s secure vault.
And then there’s Dunsel, clanking after everyone like an adopted stray. Something is wrong with him. He starts tasks and forgets them halfway through, and every so often he freezes, lights dimming, before shuffling on. Data suspects damage to his memory core and offers to take a look, though the repair could shut him down for good.
The orders say where to take Zax but not why he’s worth so much trouble. Kirk isn’t satisfied. If the Enterprise is going to protect this man, the crew needs to know who might come for him and why.
Where do you start?
A) Question Zax. Go straight to the source and ask the man himself why he’s worth all this trouble.
B) Ask Lucinda. His bodyguard must know who has been coming after him, and why.
C) Talk to Milo. A protégé hears everything, and the shy but friendly young man may say more than his employer would.
D) Press Robespierre. He is the Federation’s man on this trip, and he likely knows what Starfleet is holding back.
E) Fix Dunsel. Help Data repair the little robot, knowing it could cost Dunsel what’s left of his memory.
Choose!
