Assassination so bad that Japan is now the most eternally cucked nation to exist
Communism never took root in Japan. Because on this day in 1960, a 17 year old ultranationalist stabbed Japan’s top socialist on live TV for trying to pull the country into Mao’s orbit. Before the attack, Asanuma had gone to Beijing in 1959, while the Great Leap was already starving millions, and called America the shared enemy of Chinese and Japanese. That summer, his party helped lead the riots that forced Eisenhower to cancel his visit. When he took the stage at Hibiya Hall he was the face of the movement to scrap the security treaty. After the stabbing, the treaty stayed in force, Japan became one of Washington’s closest allies, and the regime Asanuma courted is still the threat Tokyo arms itself against.

PSA for artists: Even if you have a recording budget, you don’t need to spend it on sessions in a commercial studio. A home studio setup is the BEST long-term, cost-controlled investment you can make in your career.
LA rappers are literally posting that they cant afford studio time, but when I ask west coast OG’s or the CEO of Def Jam who’s from the west coast to help the artists, I’m wrong? 🤣

Sabrina Brier is probably (white) women’s closest equivalent to Druski, but it can’t go as far because her social analysis hits a little too close to home, and makes them as uncomfortable as much as it makes them laugh.

Mainstream rap is missing its humility. Braggadocious rap has always had its place, but so did music for people struggling financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Music that made you feel seen, heard, and loved on. Real vulnerability and not performative struggle songs.

Happy birthday to Fela Kuti, born on this day in 1938! The Nigerian bandleader, saxophonist and singer who forged Afrobeat from highlife, jazz and funk, then turned it into a vehicle for political defiance.
