There's a significant (and pften easy) difference between tripping and kicking an opponent. Both involved a swing of the leg, but the latter requires a follow through with excessive force and brutality to warrant a red card - do you think this was trip was brutal?

Folks, can we please get expectations straight. Referees are not to start countdowns immediately, nor do they have to do it for every single throw-in and goal kick. They will sensibly allow time for players to retrieve the ball, and to set themselves

As for the substitutes, it isn't 10 seconds from the whistle/signal. It's 10s from when the Assistant Referee indicates that they are ready - the board has gone up correctly, and changes have been noted accurately in the book

There will likely be a lot of inconsistency between expectations and referee management as we all get used to these positive changes. A lot of work is going in to share best practice. It will get better very quickly
