This is my water filter. My filter can bring clean safe water to communities dealing with a lead crisis (Like Flint, MI and Newark, NJ). It's powered by @Hydroviv_h2o.

...Yet being based in the American provinces sharpens my sense for what travel writers get wrong when they arrive in new places. As @JamesFallows has pointed out, the surest way to misunderstand a place like Kansas is to lead with a political lens instead of a human one...(3/5)

I truly think the scale of how horrified the Latino community is right now is not being understood, which is why the reporting about this moment is so important. So a quick story. I was chatting w/ a friend I met through the course of my work and she told me she had been crying.

At #CfASummit, Vivian Graubard tells of a time a philanthropy offered support to help solve problems with tech at the border, but only if they'd build a solution on the blockchain. Funders, with all due respect, please do not do this. This is not how to solve our civic problems.
Children's school supplies sold on amazon had a lead in them. Thanks to the good gov't work from the State of Washington, that's no longer the case. atg.wa.gov/news/news-release… #publichealth
So there's lead in our #food. Cool... "Estimated mean lead exposures range from 1 to 3.4 µg/day, with major contributions from grains, fruit, dairy, and mixtures (e.g. hamburgers, pizza, lasagna, soups)" - the @US_FDA tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1… #publichealth
So in short: Lead is bad. It's kind of everywhere. And even there's little incentive to do anything about it. So here we are, in the year 2019, and while the general issue of lead has improved over the last few decades, we're here talking about the fact that there's lead in food.
