🌎 Is Latin America and the Caribbean the strategic bet that Global Gateway is missing?
In a new article for the EU-LAC Blog, @CadenasDelascio argues that the region offers particularly favourable structural conditions for Global Gateway to demonstrate its potential: resources that are essential to the green and digital transitions, an extensive network of Association Agreements with the EU, and a significant investment gap.
According to the author, what is still missing is investment on the necessary scale, deployed through the appropriate instruments.
The article also highlights a paradox: although the EU presents Latin America and the Caribbean as a natural partner, its material footprint in the region remains limited.
At a decisive moment for the future financing and direction of Global Gateway, the article invites readers to look to the region in order to understand what this strategy could actually become.
