⚡#Opinion || 》》》 Something sinister seems to be going on under the SoO Agreement Finding a fraction of the SoO cadre in designated Camp Sinai means the cadre are in the jungle, various villages, and Kangpokpi town. As the SoO Agreement has expired in September 2026, their activities and armed presence are illegal and should be rounded up. Secondly, finding 17 unlisted personnel (not in the list submitted by KNO and KLA) means that there are many foreign personnel operating along with KNO and KLA and enjoying the sanctuary provided by security forces in the SoO camps. Since verification of cadre has hardly been carried out, it is highly possible that the security forces have been transporting foreign fighters in their security vehicles across the state. This, if true, would be a terrible embarrassment for MHA. It also points to the nonchalant manner of implementation of the revised ground rules under the aegis of MHA. Third, the absence of many SoO cadre from Sinai Camp amounts to a violation of the revised ground rules. It points to weaknesses in the implementation mechanism, as one of the primary requirements of the revised ground rules is to keep cadre within designated camps and keep deposited weapons under lock in the CRPF/BSF camps. Implementation of both these conditions has failed miserably. It is these two big weaknesses in the implementation of revised ground rules that the SoO cadre are exploiting. Further, the lapses in the implementation of the SoO agreement, where the cadre are fed and housed in designated camps and are allowed free movement with weapons, have made political analysts and thinkers believe that there could be a deliberate evil design behind the non-serious attitude of implementation of revised ground rules by tacitly allowing the SoO cadre to extract vengeance on the tribes the Kukis hate just before the rumoured conclusion of a political settlement. Fourth, right now there is no SoO Agreement as it has expired around the first week of September 2026. It means that everything is illegal now. The GoI should immediately close down all designated camps and take up military action against the illegal elements as the SoO Agreement has expired and lapsed as the outfits are continuing to engage in illegal activities. Fifth, already the indigenous people have accused the security forces and GoI of carrying out proxy wars using SoO cadre against them. Given what has happened recently in the sudden increase in violence and the ongoing free movement of the SoO cadre who are killing innocent civilians in ambushes and village attacks besides indulging in indescribable barbaric acts, extension of the SoO Agreement should be ruled out completely. The GoI should not forget that the people of Manipur, especially the Meiteis, are demanding the termination of the SoO Agreement as it appears to be facilitating the attacks under the sanctuary given by security forces. The GoI should recall history that the Kukis are nomadic and latecomers to Manipur and the more recent ones are illegal migrants to be classified as foreigners. The primary reason why Census operations of 2027 for Manipur have been deferred is on account of the demand made by native people to have the NRC first before the Census exercise. This demand has been conceded by the GoI and the Census in respect of Manipur has been deferred. All these are sufficient grounds that the SoO Agreement has not worked and should not be extended under any circumstances. Therefore, the question of extension of the SoO Agreement should not arise. ~ A concerned Naga " The Dawn Tantak" News Report @PMOIndia @HMOIndia @CMO_MANIPUR_ @LokBhavManipur @ANI @thewire_in @ThePrintIndia @IndiaToday @IndiaTodayNE @republic @IndianExpress @thecaravanindia @DeccanHerald @htTweets @karishmahasnat @rajkbhat @tweets_prateekg @NilakshiRabhaIN @nit_set @SumirDH @jeegujja @NELiveTV @meiteiheritage @NewsNltv @ramindesai @LevinaNeythiri @vijaita @TheBlueHills49

"NE Indians are bastard citizens" - @olphanso Dear NE Indians, that's the latest moniker being thrown at us, as if momo, chowmein, Chinese, chink! were not sufficient! Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP) in Arunachal Pradesh has seen some of the fiercest protests in recent times, that too in a State which is considered as the most peaceful in the entire NE region. It is also the only state in NE India where Hindi is the lingua franca, where the natives take immense pride to yell, "Mera Papa India Hai!" So, why the protest? Why have rest of the country suddenly turned their back & have pitted Arunachalis particularly and the entire NE Indians in general as trouble makers, Chinese agents & bastard citizens in the backdrop of incessant protest against the SUMP? As an indigenous Indian from NE India, let me answer few of the questions & taunts being thrown at us. 1. NE Indians are anti-development freeloaders. - No. NE Indians are not free loaders. The largest hydro-electric project in the entire country is in NE India, in the State of Arunachal Pradesh. Listing some of the existing HEPs in the NE region. >Subansiri HEP, 2000MW, AP/AS >Ranganadi HEP, 405MW, AP >Kameng HEP, 600MW, AP >Kopili HEP, 275MW, AS >Doyang HEP, 75MW, NL >Pare HEP, 110MW, AS >Khandong HEP, 50MW, AS 2. The SUMP protest. - Of all the people, Arunachalis are not the ones to hit the streets easily. So, why have they grabbed the national media in recent times? The massive 11,200 MW Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP) sits in the very heartland of the Adi tribal community of Arunachal Pradesh. This massive dam will result in unimaginable displacement, loss of traditional livelihood, tribal history, identity & future. Arunachal Pradesh alongwith the entire Himalayan belt & Purvanchal lies in the Seismic Zone VI (NSHM), the zone with maximum expected seismic hazards and super-critical tectonic vulnerability (BIS). In the event of any Nepali-like catasrophe, one can only imagine the level of death & destruction SUMP will bring not only to AP but also to dowstream Assam. 3. Punjab & Haryana give land for development, NE India protests. - This is such a juvenile way to look at the things! The reality is, while land is given for development in Punjab & Haryana at a premium rate, the natives in NE India willingly "donate" their land for any developmental work. No wonder, a village in NE still has bicycle while the so called donor Haryana & Punjab villages have been majorly Tharred! 4. China is already constructing massive dam in the same river, so why not India? - If it is about competing with the Chinese, why not compete where it actually matters? China is a global force in terms of manufacturing output, EVs, critical minerals, industrical automation, AI, 5G technology, hypersonic weapons, international infrastructures & yada yada. Should not India compete in these domains?! Also, it is the paramount duty of the Indian state to express her concerns regarding the Chinese dams which is coming up in Tsangpo/Siang/Brahmaputra, instead of building up more dams in the river thereby creating a state of perennial paranoia in Arunachal Pradesh & Assam. Build any narratives one may want but the protests against SUMP is only for one reason - survival. Fighting for survival must not make any citizens as bastard citizen. Period.
🚨 NEW PROJECT, SAME SCRIPT: PROTESTS, ARSON, "FOREIGN FUNDS" China is building the world's largest dam, a 60,000 MW monster at Medog, just across the Arunachal border. Nearly 3x the Three Gorges. No water sharing treaty with India. One decision in Beijing could flood Assam or choke the Brahmaputra. India's answer: the 11,200 MW Siang Upper Multipurpose Project. ₹1.5 lakh crore. India's biggest hydropower project ever. A 9 billion cubic metre reservoir to absorb anything China throws downstream. And what happened the moment work picked up? A mob in Pasighat torched an NHPC office and a police station and vandalised the houses of local leaders, including the state BJP chief. Notice the pattern. Vizhinjam port, Kudankulam nuclear plant, Sterlite, now Siang. Every time India builds something big, protests erupt on cue. And a police FIR now alleges foreign funds are being used to sustain the anti dam protests. China builds dams in Tibet with zero protests. India tries to protect its own river and gets arson. Locals' concerns about land and rehabilitation deserve a fair hearing. Burning police stations doesn't. Only God can save this insane Nation from these type of bastard citizens.

Prominent anti-dam activist and advocate Ebo Mili and fellow activist Otul Jerang, who are currently Pasighat police custody in Arunachal Pradesh, have reportedly begun a hunger strike amid escalating tensions over the proposed 11.2-gigawatt (GW) Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP). The two activists reportedly began the hunger strike on Monday morning. The proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project is a mega hydropower and water-storage project on the Siang river in Arunachal Pradesh. While the project is being pushed for its hydropower potential and as a strategic move to counter an even more massive 66-GW hydropower project on the Yarlung Tsangpo river, the upper course of the Siang by the China, indigenous communities in the Siang belt have opposed it over concerns about displacement, environmental damage and the impact on their traditional way of life. Manipur celebrated Mera Hou Chongba 2026, reaffirming the traditional bond between the hill and valley communities through cultural performances, rituals and the exchange of gifts. The festival was observed at the historic Kangla Fort and Sana Konung (Royal Palace), with a procession led by titular King Leishemba Sanajaoba. Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, ministers and MLAs attended the afternoon programme. The exchange of gifts symbolised brotherhood and unity among the communities. However, the titular king expressed concern that the festival could not be celebrated on a grand scale due to the prevailing law and order situation in the state. He also conveyed his wishes for peace, unity and prosperity in Manipur. #TheSentinel #Manipur #MeraHouChongba2026

Serious questions are once again being raised about the utility of the Suspension of Operations agreement in Manipur and whether it has ever contributed to lasting peace in the state. The concept of confining armed cadres to designated camps and taking their weapons under a formal agreement may appear pragmatic on paper. In practice, the recent verification at Sinai Camp in Kangpokpi district has exposed its complete failure. Against an expected strength of around 150 cadres, security forces found only one registered cadre present. Nearly 150 cadres remain unaccounted for, while 17 individuals were found impersonating registered SoO members. Large quantities of illegal arms, ammunition and combat equipment were also recovered. This single episode demonstrates that the agreement has collapsed beyond recovery. The fundamental premise of entering into any arrangement with illegal groups that continue to possess and deploy illegal arms is itself deeply questionable. An agreement that cannot ensure the physical presence of cadres, the safe custody of weapons, or adherence to ground rules ceases to serve any legitimate purpose. It must also be recalled that the previous government led by Shri @NBirenSingh had earlier withdrawn from the SoO arrangement, recognising these inherent flaws. The pact was subsequently extended under President’s Rule with certain revised conditions. Those conditions, too, have now been shown to be ineffective. The SoO agreement has outlived whatever limited utility it once claimed. Continued reliance on a framework that has repeatedly failed only perpetuates impunity. The time has come for a clear and decisive end to this arrangement so that the rule of law can be restored without selective exemptions. @PMOIndia @narendramodi @HMOIndia @AmitShah @DrSJaishankar @sambitswaraj @NBirenSingh
