I’m born in Britain , all 4 grandparents moved from Ireland in the 1960s . Hold both citizenships . Both people are more similar in the world than different , both countries are nice . We live in 2026 not 1726 . To be a victim of history you have not experienced , while living one of the highest qualities of life for humankind is a form of self harm and self sabotage .

I’m born in Britain and I am British , Irish people don’t consider anyone born outside of Ireland as one of them , despite them having genuine love of their ancestry which is a shame . So it is what it is . I love Ireland

Literally this. Dad was born in County Mayo. Mums Dad was born in Mullingar (and never left), Mum’s mum’s family are all from Cork. I still have family in Dublin & Mayo that I visit regularly but consider myself English because that’s what the Irish consider me.
