This has been a response of many firsts:
Such as First time a Marburg patient is intubated and extubated successfully.
It also recorded impressive indicators like very high recovery rate(over 70%), and outbreak contained within 3 months! Morakoze cyane!! #SSOX
Watch Dr @RamadanOtim, Health Emergency Officer at @WHOAFRO, reflect on lessons learned in responding to and bringing the #Marburg outbreak in #Rwanda to an end. These include:
✅ Rapid response
✅ Contact tracing
✅ Preparedness in urban settings

Health workers are the foundation of every health system. Yet South Sudan has only 7.9 health workers per 10,000 people - less than one-fifth of the @WHO benchmark of 44.5.
The shortage limits access, quality and emergency response.

The fight against Ebola is always won one family at a time. I always respect our #RCCE experts and Anthropologists who spend hours each day talking to families, addressing their concerns, clarifying the rational of public health measures which seem at variance with religion or culture. Today I celebrate all our RCCE colleagues across @OMSRDCONGO
When a family in Mutumbi 🇨🇩 refused the use of body bags for the burial of a loved one who died from #Ebola, the burial was delayed for more than 24 hours.
A community dialogue led by a risk communication expert and involving local leaders helped address cultural concerns while meeting public health requirements, allowing the burial to proceed safely and with dignity.

Marketplaces remain important platforms for engaging communities and sustaining vigilance against #Ebola.
In Pakwach District, @WHO, together with the District Health Team and CDFU are stepping up risk communication and community engagement efforts by reaching market vendors and community members with key information on Ebola signs and symptoms, prevention measures and reporting procedures.
By listening, responding to concerns and addressing misinformation, we continue to strengthen trust and protect the gains made against Ebola.
