Quick question for Pythonistas:
How (un)Pythonic is it to subclass built-in Python objects like str, list, and dict?
class MyString(str):
pass
It is possible to do it, but there’s significantly more friction than there is in, say, Ruby, especially for further subclasses.

The bad news: @heroku was down (status.heroku.com/incidents/…). The good news: We got email saying “We know the company got sold by you didn’t say you were shutting it down! 😭” The best news: We’re not shutting it down! 😀

💎 @mhartl Ruby On Rails 4 Tutorial was the first Rails book I have read! And certainly the most enjoyable of all.
Glad to see it is still alive and kicking. It has been updated to Rails 7 and Hotwire. Very much recommended!

Does anyone know how to get minitest/spec working with Rails integration tests? It seems like the attached minimalist example should work, but instead it gives “NameError: undefined local variable or method `root_url'”. I’ve Googled around to no avail.

Spent the day working on a side-project in #Ruby on #rails. This is the most enjoyable framework and language that actively tries to make me have fun with it. I hear you @yukihiro_matz

For anyone wanting to get started with web dev, I think it's still true that Rails is the best web framework there is.
I also think it's still true that @mhartl's tutorial is the best way to learn Rails.
