People keep showing “tropical homes” with clean white walls, light wood, and almost no pattern.
That’s not African.
African architecture and interiors have never been minimalist. We hang masks on the walls, carve doors, cut patterned openings, use bold colour, and leave texture visible. Those details are the design, not decoration added later.
The minimalist tropical look is a borrowed style. Ours is layered and specific. If the home has none of that, it’s tropical architecture with the African identity removed.

I'm not going to hold you, but Keke has one of the best podcasts. I loved that she and Law could talk about this last year.
Zendaya stylist, Law Roach REVEALS the real reason Keke Palmer fired him, He explains that Keke was secretly pregnant and hiding it from the world, which meant he had to put her in clothes that covered her baby bump. Law admits he wanted to dress the bump instead, so he just couldn't get the looks or energy right for what she needed👀
“It was a business decision that she should have made, i couldn’t get the looks right, i couldn’t get the energy right and it was like she made a business decision to fire me, and i love what she said, she called me she said “you may be the best artist in the world but you are not the best stylist for me”
“She was pregnant and she was lying about being pregnant and this lady had me putting her in all these clothes hiding this baby bump and everybody in the world knew she was pregnant and she didn’t want to tell anybody which was her choice but i just couldn’t cause for i’m like oh you’re pregnant, i wanna dress the bump, i wanna do these things, and i was excited about that, and i had stories to tell about that but she didn’t want that, but i was her decision to tell everybody that she was pregnant when she wanted to it so i couldn’t get it right”
The video explanation of this:
People are surprised they build a life of their own to then realise they cornered themselves in routines that are going to keep themselves alone.
And the person who would supposedly join them have not contributed much if anything to the edifice, so it is harder to build investment, shared history and last but not least meaning to a union.
So not only do people get the older, close to mid life stage individuals who are run down emotionally from all of the effort they undertook by themselves to get there, but the energy reeks of desperation, so for all of the tangible wins, it feels like an intangible L getting with that person.
