ICYMI: “According to the proponents of New Measures, the church’s duty was to preach the gospel as efficiently as possible, with New Measures techniques aiding the effective power of the gospel message. With these foundational principles in mind, Finney equates the bench with conversion, in that one who is unwilling to go to the bench is unwilling ‘to do anything for Christ.’ He believes that during the apostolic era, the practice of baptism served the same purpose the bench fulfilled in the early nineteenth century.” –Barry Waugh @RScottClark @heidelcast @heidelbergrefo1 buff.ly/Uwbip1C

Heidelberg 114 and 115 may be the two most important catechism questions in all of Christian history. @ReformedDC
114 Q. But can those converted to God keep these commandments perfectly? A. No. In this life even the holiest have only a small beginning of this obedience. Nevertheless, with all seriousness of purpose, they do begin to live according to all, not only some, of God’s commandments.

Those opposed to 'Marrow theology' are either ill informed (e.g., they've read about The Marrow that it was antinomian), ignorant (they've not read it), they've misread it, or they've read it and they're just Baxterite neonomians. — R Scott Clark

The center of evangelicalism (even the reformedish type) slouches toward the egalitarian and inclusive ethos and practice of the culture. The slouchers believe they can maintain a high regard for Scripture even as they ignore important parts of it—"...but it might work for us."
If this is shocking, you haven’t been paying attention to the trajectory—or better, the drift angle—of evangelicalism over the last decade.

Why did @CraigACarter1 become Presbyterian? His story raises a question worth asking: If we agree on the five points of Calvinism, what else does it mean to be Reformed? @SolaDogmatika considers this perennial question: reformeddogmatika.com/why-cr…

ICYMI: “Although [Robert Rollock] lived nearly five decades before the Westminster Assembly, his writings reveal a remarkably developed covenant theology that closely resembles the theology later codified in the Westminster Standards. His work provides compelling evidence that many ideas commonly associated with seventeenth-century high Reformed orthodoxy were already present in the sixteenth century." –Antonio Coppola @RScottClark @heidelcast @heidelbergrefo1 buff.ly/qUliDxS
