this song holds so much of what the album means for me, it’s the THUMPING heart of it.
It’s about trusting yourself enough to follow your own instincts and finding value in the parts of u that don’t always fit neatly.
@officialdoechii felt so obvious for this song because i’ve always admired how she’s leaned into exactly who she is and the world met her there. her grammy speech made me SNOT SOB 😭 love u forever doe🩷
to the girls who hear a different song in their head!! <333

Never underestimate how stupid the average male is.
They are socialised to not reflect or ponder or sympathise. Their curiosity is capped at making money, business, sports & partying.
Very few of them perceive the world through an empathetic lens or are well-read.
I think some of you are taking this post out of context & reducing the entire conversation to “LAZY” which I don’t think is the point at all.
Ayra can be many things, but LAZY? Absolutely not.
Now, back to the actual point of the post
‘LEAVING A MARK ON PEOPLE’S MINDS’
For someone whose album cover art & rollout were heavily centered around the colour purple and that very distinct Nigerian GELE, you’d expect the visual identity to carry into performances and appearances. Let us see her perform in the purple gele, or incorporate it into her looks in some way.
But the album dropped & suddenly, we stopped seeing the gele. Meanwhile, the fans are wearing it more than she is.
I honestly think they should have allowed the gele aesthetic to marinate for months & become synonymous with the album. The goal should be to create such a strong visual association that, years from now, whenever & wherever pple see a gele, their first thought is either ‘Starr Girl’ or Ayra Starr.
That’s what it means to leave a mark. It’s about creating an identity pple can instantly associate with ‘Starr Girl’ or Ayrastarr.

Natanya (@n4t4nya) says the rise of AI is an unfortunate symptom of a trend in recent years towards imperfections and human flair being removed from music.
"It's the symptom of something really wrong that we're getting tricked [by AI], because we've been conditioned to appreciate and accept music that doesn't have human flair in it, which I think is awful,” she says.
”Even in the way that we track vocals, we try and blur out all of the imperfections, and vocal coaching is now about being completely on pitch, rather than the feel, which is kind of stupid.”
Natanya’s new album ‘ATTITUDE ERA’ arrives on September 20.

“I’m a loyal person.” And there’s a long list of people they’ve snaked. “I’m an honest person.” And there’s a long list of lies they’ve told. “I’m a self aware and accountable person.” And people are still waiting on apologies from them. Nope. Let time tell their story. Let reality tell their story.

Gotta stop letting people self narrate. If you go by what people say about themselves, you’ll only have the version they’re selling to you. Best way to learn a person is to wait and see. Go by what they actually live by, not what they claim to live by.

Unbiased? Their livelihoods are literally dependent on ITV. When some cast members were saying it was abusive and aggressive they were also saying ITV edited it and didn’t show it so the show the audience at home watched meant they didn’t get an accurate representation of it. Ant & Dec were literally defending their employers who pay them. “Unbiased” my ass!🤣🤡

Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar questions Jacob Elordi’s acting range:
“I think Jacob Elordi is going to be a big star—no doubt about that. But lately I’ve been wondering whether he’s just a sex symbol or a respected actor. […] It’s just that “Wuthering Heights” is very bad. And it’s not Jacob Elordi’s or Margot Robbie’s fault—they do what they can. It’s not even kitsch. What’s happening with Frankenstein adaptations is that they’ve become these filthy creatures, made from pieces of other bodies—it’s always been a horror story. But now they’ve added a kind of sexualised imagery to it; they’ve made the monster attractive. He has to speak in that deep, low voice, and that’s much easier than using a more expressive range. So, in that sense, “Frankenstein” is very convenient for an actor.”

Coco Gauff is standing firm after criticism of her natural hair in a Miu Miu shoot.
“The girls who get it, get it.”
Her message is simple. Wear your hair how you want. No explanations needed.
‘The Drama’ is a romance devoid of depth and a comedy without an emotional anchor. But most galling, it places a Black woman at the center of a very American controversy and does little more than wink. vulture.com/article/the-dram…
